Forget Politics. This is War

Washington’s favorite political pastime – finger pointing – returned to full pre-9/11 glory this week with revelations the White House, a full month before the attacks, was briefed about fears Osama bin Laden’s gang of thugs might hijack airliners.

So the White House went into the all-to-typical defense mode of saying “we didn’t do nuttin’ wrong” and another old Washington game of “what did you know and when did you know it” began.

Publicity-hungry Democrats, frustrated over trying to find an issue that would stick against George W. Bush, jumped on the issue and immediately claimed this to be the biggest intelligence lapse since Pearl Harbor.

They were joined by more than a few opportunistic Republicans who demanded the White House tell all about the intelligence briefing.

Yes, things are back to normal in Disneyland on the Potomac. Mickey Mouse politics reigns supreme.

Many Americans have wondered how the United States, with all its intelligence-gathering resources, could be caught so flat-footed by the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

As it turns out, we weren’t so clueless as originally thought.

We had the clues. We just didn’t know what to do with them.

The Central Intelligence Agency knew bin Ladan was planning to hijack airplanes.

The FBI knew suspected terrorists were learning how to fly airplanes.

Various military intelligence agencies knew an attack on the U.S. was coming (they just didn’t know when or where).

Everybody knew something but – as it turns out – each of these intelligence experts did not know what others in their profession knew and no one was putting all these random bits of information together to see the whole picture.

The “we didn’t know” crowd at 1600 Pennsylvania say they never, ever, thought anyone would be bold enough to take a commercial airliner loaded with gas and people and crash it into a major building loaded with even more people.

And the “we would have known” crowd on the other side of the political fence see this as an excellent opportunity to mine political gold, saying things would have been different if the Supreme Court had just not put Bush in the White House.

If bin Laden’s cronies are planning another, even more devastating attack on this country in the near future, they can breathe a little easier. A country diverted by fighting with itself makes an easy target.

Instead of learning from our mistakes, we compound them by getting into a pissing contest.

Why not face the facts.

Our various intelligence agencies had the pieces of the puzzle.

We just didn’t have anyone smart enough to put the puzzle together.

That’s nothing new. America has a long, painful history of underestimating its enemies.

We get caught napping and then have to muster all our resolve to overcome an enemy who gets the jump on us by not playing by our rules.

But we can’t do that if we get bogged down in a blame game while the enemy is still at large.

We screwed up.

Time to learn from these mistakes and remember that this is war.

You win wars by overcoming your mistakes.

You lose wars by playing politics.

Rule number one: No more new college visas. I'm sorry, if you can't get an education in your own country, then that's too damn bad. Go learn a trade or something. Rule number two: If you're already here on a school visa, then you gotta prove you're in school full time. We gotta see a transcript and a report card. And no C's or lower. If you aren't actively obtaining your degree, you're loafing. And if you're loafing, you've got too much time on your hands. Which makes you active terrorist fodder. You gotta go. Rule number three: If you're here on a student visa and you're working, you gotta go. If you're supposed to be a student, and you've got enough money to get your butt here to go to school, then you've got enough to stay in school full time, period. Leave those jobs for the ones who truly need them - our children who are in school. Rule number four: If you're in school part time, you got too much time on your hands -- you gotta go (for details, see rule number two above). Rule number five: When you graduate, you gotta go. You're here to get an education to use in your home country. Well, I'm not gonna require you to go back home, but you can't stay here. Rule number six: There is no rule number six; Rule number seven: No poofters (oops, sorry, old Python joke). Rule number six: You can't have anyone from home come and visit. You wanna visit with mom and dad, take your butt home and do it. But remember, we get to do a full-cavity search on your butt when you come back in. And we'll do it with a smile, too. Harsh? Yes. But I don't think that the average joe here wants to walk through the local Wal-Mart while some goon in the stereo department decides he wants to blow himself up and take everyone in the store with him.

These quotes say it all...

"Everybody knew something but – as it turns out – each of these intelligence experts did not know what others in their profession knew and no one was putting all these random bits of information together to see the whole picture."

"Intelligence agencies are hierarchies, meaning that they are bureaucracies that protect turf and regard information sharing as an unnatural act."-THIS QUOTE TAKEN FROM THIS ARTICLE.

I am not so sure that they (the deomocrats) would sacrifice one of their own (FDR) in such a way. FDR was the Clinton prototype, and he is held in high regard among the liberal elite of modern society.

The one thing that I have certainly found is that although there may not have been enough evidence to tell when and where exactly an attack would come, there was certainly enough evidence to show that there would be an attck, invlolving jets, and having ties to al-Qaeda, they had the orgainization already in mind.

I am not a person who if threatened will just sit there, waiting for it to come, then do something about it. I will take measure to prevent my life from being disrupted, and deal with the threat. End of story. We could have done the same thing.

Security all around could have been heightened (especially after the USS COLE attack. Clening up the FBI and CIA is a good start as well.

A great place to start would to oust the CFR, Bildeburgers, and Trilateral Commission which have plagued this nation since the early 1920's.

The next step would be to cut ties with the UN, and watch it disinegrate as a growing political entity.

Finally, we pull all our troops back to the Western Hemisphere, and concentrate on protecting our immediate borders. This will effectively end our "World Police Force" title, and begin a restoration of our Republic, and demolish our empire.

According to Clausewitz, War is a continuation of politics by other means.

We should not educate anyone from any country listed as supporting terror. We are stupid enough to give them all the education they need to return to their homeland and plot against us. They come here and learn our culture, our landmarks, the things that we place value on as Americans.

But we must remember, these people are barbarians. They have no value for property or life in general. You can tell that because they strap bombs on themselves and commit suicide while killing others. Their streets are littered with rubble. Their buildings are windowless and have holes blown in them. Their premise is to come here and learn so to make their homes better. Economic development is good for their nation. But instead of learning to benefit humanity, they learn to destroy humanity

How can we be so stupid to allow these barbarians access to our country? Lets make them feel unwelcome. Deny them opportunity. Average Americans, we are the soldiers here. Our government is too worried about how to accomodate immigrants to care about those who were here first and who place value on everything American. We dont need a government spokesman. We are the government, and when we speak, they better all listen and get out of the way. This is indeed war. America is at stake here.
