Bill Cosby who's hit NBC television sitcom idealized family life throughout the 1980's has some harsh words about America's favorite openly disfunctional family, 'The Osbornes.'
'First of all you media need to stop with this Ozzy Osbourne.
This is a sad, sad family; it is a sad case.
The children are sad and the parents are sad,' Cosby tells entertainment show 'Access Hollywood on Thursday, June 20.
'This is not entertainment.'
While many think audiences respond to the MTV series based on the misadventures of Ozzy and crew because it shows that even the rich and famous suffer the same complicate family dynamics as the hoi polloi, Cosby says that enjoying it is akin to 'laughing at Tiny Tim.'
I liked Tiny Tim!
BTW, by an odd coincidence, I bought my first Tiny Tim record today (and the jacket was autographed).
Ozzy and his wife know that people are laughing at their antics. If anything, he's set himself as the barker for his own carnival sideshow.
Laughing at the way Bob Dylan speaks is more akin to laughing at this Tiny Tim:
I wonder if Bill Cosby spoke out against the fake article about Bob Hope from the Onion.
Cosby is a class act and sometimes is seen at UCLA's track. Stay cool bro!
How would those who do so feel if Ozzy went the way of others like him ,and died one day of a drug overdose , or one in his family , or several ? If any oppose what is said here , so be it . Eternal wisdom is eternal , cannot be opposed , and you only defeat yourself .
" There is a way that seemeth right unto a man , but it's end thereof are ways of death . " -From the Old Testament . Church Of Christ , voa-davidk 6/19/02
Cosby also gave in to pressure from the rioting, racist punks in Cincinnati and cancelled his performance.
Ozzy does have interest in his kids lives but there still is some impression that he's trying to be their "cool friend" maybe more than their dad.
One of the daughters has refused to participate in the program.
The hostile housing situations that MTV has been crafting on "The Real World" are far worse. There are people who have serious mental issues who are thrown into rooming with strangers for a tv show. The pressure seems to be there to "cut loose" and party hard or hook up with one or more of the roommates. One woman was a chronic alcoholic and almost died in a season opener. Another woman had mental problems from a tick bite. And so on.
It may appear that they are trying for "slice of life" but the producers seem to be trying for trysts and conflicts to keep things "interesting".
I think you got it just about right, Joe. The fact that either of these knuckleheads have some sort of sway is proof positive that our country is hopelessly intoxicated by the celebrity/ruling class.
And stopped being even FUN -- at the end of "I Spy!"
[Now, that, was fun!]
They had no idea who this guy was, and they started screaming "Daddy! Mommy! Some N*gr is kidnapping us!!! HELP!!!
My niece even bit him, and my nephew was punching him as hard as an 8-year old could.
Needless to say he put them down and apologized to my sister and brother-in-law. The whole story is quite amazing, and he probably hasn't liked white kids since
I liked that show after that where he was the basketball coach -- especially the theme song:
"Whooo Lord, gonna get some maggots, and some rolls, and some reesin risin hah hah hah..."
Da dun da, dun da dun da da dun dah,
Da dun da, dun da dun da da duuuumb...
That was the peak of his career as far as I was concerned.
RP: Do the audience laugh when you say what you say?
EM: Yes..
RP: Do you get Paid...?
EM: Yes
RP: Then Tell Bill to have a Coke and a Smile and Shut the F**K up...
Cosby's personal life has been a lot more unsavory than Osborune's.
