"Some folks might remember that George Bernard Shaw -- a sandal-wearing socialist vegetarian -- tried to reform the spelling of the English language. Big deal. Big musty flop. This book -- by the hard-drivin', hard-lovin', full-throbbin', high-octane, deerslayin', allthings-scarin', ballistic guitarboy -- Nugetizes it. Get ready to rock, doc." (Ted Nugent)
Ted Nugent writes lyrically of his intense enjoyment of the hunt, whether for deer, bears, ducks and geese, fish, ferocious boars, or scampering rabbits and squirrels. He writes about the environment during the hunt, and of his stealthy movements through it, with such immediacy and vividness that one can almost feel the sting of icy mountain air or smell the rotting vegetation of a Florida swamp, or hear the crows and hawks fighting overhead....(snip)
Ted grows his own vegetables, plays his own music, plants his own trees, cuts his own wood, and breeds his own wife. He says "apathy and room service are for sheep and wimps."
....Ted named one 300 lb dead pig that he killed in Florida "Janet", after Janet Reno. "The resemblance was frightening."....(snip)

This Mr. Nugent seems like a nice young man.
I would be delighted to take him hunting with me, and let him attend one of my jam sessions, but I am known to be a bit wild, and would probably get him in trouble.

He has an earthy way of talking, sometimes!

If you're interested, we interviewed Shemane (as in Mrs. Ted) Nugent on Unspun last month -- and talked about this book. She comes in around the second hour (I think... or maybe after 30 minutes?..):

This book looks terrific. I wasn't going to, but now I think I'll buy it. I love fresh game. Nuge seems to know far more about finding it, killing it and cooking it than me. I can use the lesson.
To: WaterDragon
Thanks for this article.
There is nothing better than game that has killed properly, bled properly and then butchered properly. Then frozen or aged until it is cooked properly.
The protein is super dense and so satisfying. We have several excellent books on how to cook game and certain recipes that we have highlighted from other books.
We will be soon having the ultimate Surf and Turf soon with some friends. We will be providing deer back strap, and they will provide abalone.

I hope you enjoy it. Sorry I can't remember exactly where she comes in, but Gary Aldrich, Jeff Head and Jeff Deist (Ron Paul's "Ari Fleischer") are also guests.
