Countries stage anti-US riots

Violent anti-American protests have taken place in several Muslim countries in what has been described as "a day of rage".

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets after Friday prayers in Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka following calls by hardline Islamic political leaders.

And in the West Bank, thousands participated In two anti-US marches.

Police and rioters clashed in the Pakistani port of Karachi where a KFC fast-food restaurant was torched and other buildings and vehicles were also attacked.

Police used teargas and fired shots into the air to break up the protests as smoke rose from burning tyres.

More than 2000 protesters marched through the Pakistan capital Islamabad chanting anti-American slogans.

In Quetta, in the volatile region near the Afghan city of Kandahar where the Taleban leadership is based, police took up positions on rooftops and army trucks were posted by UN buildings to prevent them being torched.

Pakistan's religious parties have issued a joint statement calling for a nationwide strike on Monday to protest against the planned visit of US Secretary of State Colin Powell.

The government insisted things were under control and President General Perverse Musharraf said most Pakistanis supported his decision to help the US.

But he warned anyone who protested violently or acted against Pakistan's national interest would be dealt with firmly.

"There are only a few extremist elements who tried to disrupt law and order," said the president's spokesman Major General Rashid Quereshi.

"But we will ensure the protection of life and property of the people. All best possible measures are being taken."

In the West Bank, marchers chanted anti-US slogans, such as "Bush is the father of terrorism" and others, "Bin Laden, bin Laden."

Senior members of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement joined the marches in the towns of Nablus and Ramallah, despite efforts by Arafat's government to quash anti-US rallies.

The Palestinian Authority has distanced itself from Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect in the September 11 terror attacks on the US that triggered the bombing raids in Afghanistan.

On Thursday, President Bush told a news conference that he believed "there ought to be a Palestinian state, the boundaries of which would be negotiated by the parties."

Israel later said there was no point in discussing new initiatives as long as Middle East violence continued.

In Malaysia, police used water cannon to disperse more than 1000 protesters demonstrating outside the US embassy.

The protesters, shouting "God is great" and carrying banners reading "Afghan Is Our Brother" and "Go To Hell America", marched to the heavily-fortified US embassy after Friday prayers.

The rally was organised by the opposition Parti Islam se-Malaysia whose president Fadzil Noor was allowed inside the embassy to deliver a statement.

The Malay government has refused to support the air strikes but backs America's war against terrorism.

A crowd of 500 Iranian students staged an all-night vigil in front of the United Nations' headquarters in Tehran.

The hardline Islamic Propaganda Organisation called for mass demonstrations against the strikes after Friday prayers.

"Death to America, death to Israel," the students chanted before ending their vigil.

It is getting more obvious these people deserve a state of their own. /sarcams off

The Palestinian Authority has distanced itself from Osama bin Laden

Would they?

"The suicide bombers of today are the noble successors of their noble predecessors...the Lebanese suicide bombers, who taught the US Marines a tough lesson in [Lebanon]... These suicide bombers are the salt of the earth, the engines of history...They are the most honorable [people] among us..." [Al Hayat Al Jadida Sept. 11, 2001].

Al Hayat Al Jadida is the official Palestinian news organization, a newspaper that receives $100 million per year in American aid! Note the date -- September 11, 2001, the same day four US aircraft were converted to suicide bombs that killed more Americans than were killed at both Pearl Harbor and the D-Day invasion of Normandy combined.

Time to put the fear of us in them again. *sigh* This is getting very old. Should we take out Iraq, Iran or just let the Israelis do what they will with the West Bank?

I vote for option number three but would find one or two acceptable as well. Would prefer to take out the Saudi government but I don't see that happening until after Iraq and Iran have been neutralized.

Ok. Iran it is. Unless there is a good argument for Lebanon. They seem to be more a pawn in this then anything else.

Within five years there will be a quarantine of arab islamic nations by the West.

No jet or ship or road travel will be permitted once bombs have gone off in cargo cntainers, ships are used as WMD, jets are used as bombs, etc. They will have to be cut off from the civilized world for the civilized world's safety, since every group of arab muslim "students and businessmen" will contain more covert terrorists, and every container or ship from their nations may be a bomb.

Europeans trapped in the quarantined areas will be massacred, muslims from the quarantined nations in the West will either take loyalty oaths and be watched closely, be deported, or be isolated in ghettos.

The West will take a big economic hit as it adjusts to life with more expensive oil.

The quarantined muslim nations will starve, unable to import food, and unable to maintain their power and water infrastucture without Western help.

Warming the crowd up for a big event?

"Osama bin Laden is to give another televised address to the world.

The al-Qaeda leader is to deliver a hate-filled video on July 4, American Independence Day."
