Politics aside, immigration, legal and otherwise,is a fact of California life that is having tremendous impact. About a third of the immigrants to the United States come to California and they and the babies born to immigrant mothers account for virtually all of the state's net population growth,About six million people each decade. Without immigration, in other words, California's population growth would be zero.

could the reason for that be: because of all the immigrants, everyone else moved out.
Bingo!
Yep. And what's wrong with no growth?
That's the fact. Prof. William Frey, demographics prof of the Univ. of Michigan, has made an academic specialty of studying that trend - in which both middle-class European-Americans and middle-class blacks are fleeing Kalifornia for other states and have been for years.
At the same time, not only are hordes of illegals coming to Kalifornia and then reproducing there - but also large numbers of U.S.-born Asian-Americans are gravitating to Kalifornia.
Kalifornia thus is truly Brazilifying - into a society of a very-few very-rich grandees living in gated communities living in Spielbergian opulence, a small middle class serving those grandees, and a giant lumpenproletariat composed mainly of illegals and their first-generation offspring. Even the pinko L.A. Times has run a big article about this issue recently.
Not surprisingly, Kalifornia no longer resembles the U.S. - or even an ultrapinko variant of it. Instead, it resembles other Latin American societies - both economically and in Spanish being the main language of its cities.
