YOU Can Do Something To Defend Our Pledge of Allegiance!

Dear Senator [Last Name], or
Dear President Bush:

As you know, liberal judges in San Francisco have declared our Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional. And in doing so, they declared all-out war on every man, woman, and child in America who believes in our basic right to the Freedom of Religion.

That is why I am asking you now -- directly and unequivocally -- to introduce and actively support a bill in the Senate to amend the Constitution to restore and protect Freedom of Religion. Nothing less will be sufficient.

Right now, there is a bill in the House of Representatives -- HJ Res 81, introduced by Rep. Ernest Istook -- that offers just such an amendment. I am asking you specifically to introduce a Senate version of that same bill and pass it into law without delay.

This ruthless assault on religious freedom has gone on long enough. Since 1961, when liberal activist judges ripped away the right to school prayer, we have seen our religious freedoms stripped away one by one. And now, the left is going in for the final kill.

Well, we say that enough is enough! That's why we are asking you now to step forward and stand up for religious freedom. It's too late for talk. Introduce and actively support the "Religious Freedom Restoration Amendment."

Click here to hear an audio recording of Red Skelton's famous tribute to the Pledge of Allegiance.  Performed January 14, 1969, this tribute has been read twice into the Congressional Record and received 42 awards for patriotism.  Most ironic is his closing commentary, "Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?"

Great. I can just see it now. Little Hindu kids stopping in the middle of the day to pray to eight armed statues. Little Mohommed laying down his blanket on the classroom floor a few times a day. Public school teachers wearing burkas.

Look, I'm all for the Judeo-Christian God in the public schools, but I realize that I am never going to get it exclusively my way. This is why I am against the entire concept of public schools and their very existance. If any teacher started mentioning Vishnu or Allah in any classroom a child of mine were in, there would be SERIOUS trouble. This amendment opens the door to that very thing.

You have to understand that public school teachers, like any government employee, in their official capacity are NOT the people. They are the state. Government employees in their official capacity are LIMITED by the people, they are not one of them.

The 1st amendment is fine as is. Leave the constitution alone.

Look at the timing of this ATTACK on America's belief in God. It is just DAYS before July 4th.

What if America does suffer Terrorist Attacks on July 4th? We'll be so distracted by the events, that in 45 days when this Ninth Court Ruling is due for review...

No one will even care anymore. And without Public Protest, ONE NATION UNDER GOD will disappear forever.

No matter what happens, we must REMEMBER to fight this assault on the Pledge of Allegiance. It's a fight for Liberty, and the Freedom to Believe...

Why do you believe that freedom of religion requires the government to force it on those of us who choose differently than you? Is your religion so impotent that it cannot stand on its own?

Is your religion or athiest beliefs so impotent it can't stand on it's own; against our founding fathers (See post 10) very structure and livlihood?

Like it or not this country was founded on and is based on Christianity. The proof is overwhelmingly in our archives and founding documents. I am sorry you do not care for it but atleast have respect and intelligence enough to see what even the most leftist liberal in D.C. does.

VOINOVICH STATEMENT ON PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE RULING

Wednesday, June 26, 2002

WASHINGTON – Today the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion and cannot be recited in schools. U.S. Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) issued the following statement in reaction:

“This ruling on the Pledge is just beyond comprehension. I am shocked, saddened and exasperated by liberal efforts to eliminate any and all references to God in our country. I fought this fight with liberal interest groups as governor of Ohio when our motto “With God All Things Are Possible” was challenged. We eventually prevailed when the motto was ruled constitutional by the Sixth Circuit. Judge David Nelson, writing for the majority, expressed it well in his opinion when he wrote: “The motto involves no coercion. It does not assert a preference for one religious denomination or sect over another.”

“Now more than ever our children should be able to join together and recite the Pledge of Allegiance as a celebration of the freedom, opportunity and diversity America offers. I am confident that this ruling will be overturned and our nation’s children will be able to stand up, put their hands on their hearts and recite the words to our Pledge.”

I never knew Voinovich was this conservative. Where have I been? I thought he was more politically correct coddling the democrats.
