It's beyond stupidity to let this man go.

As someone suggested on another thread:

Trade him for the US pilot that Saddam has supposedly been holding for over a decade!

Won't do any good. I read an article about this guy back in '93. He hates Saddam. He left iraq with his father because saddam was going to kill them. Him and his mother got into a huge argument when she wouldn't leave with him to go somewhere else. Every article I have ever read that mentioned him for the last 9 years shows him to have a deep hatred of saddam and later on, his mother.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Either we have a negligently incompetent FBI,CIA,INS or this guy was let in.

If he hates Saddam as you say then he could be used by intelligence agencies to implicate Saddam in 9/11. It's no secret that Bush is looking for a reason to take Saddam out.

It would also explain the rush to deport rather than hold and investigate. The fact that he was in this country 4 days prior to 9-11 and our FBI wants to deport him says it all. He should be recieving an examination that would make a colonoscope seem like a feather tickle yet our government wants to deport....does not compute.

Of course that's true -- enrolling in a flight school is not what a tourist visa is for. He should have applied for a student visa. If he really were an Iraqi dissident, perhaps he could have made arrangements to do this.

Both CNN and the local news are reporting that he was interviewed by the FBI in LA. They then allowed him to fly to Florida, where they arrested him. The owner of the flight school was also interviewed on local TV, and he said he had cleared Saffi's taking the course with the "government."

My guess: the almighty and arrogant State Department Consular Affairs cleared this guy, without a care to who he was (what the heck, just another middle eastern student pilot, ho-hum) and without telling the FBI/CIA/INS. The INS couldn't think of any reason to detain him (being the stepson of America's foremost enemy isn't enough for them, obviously), so they let him go on to the flight school so they could arrest him. Now they all have well-deserved egg on their faces, and just want him to disappear on the next flight back to New Zealand.

If we won't make some suitable excuse for keeping him as an 'honored guest', i.e. hostage the CIA should be his shadow for some time to come.
