Yes, of course, I wasn't clear. The missionaries that travel abroad speak one additional language but many speak more than that. My brother learned 3 languages as a result of his mission. He learned French, then Creole French and also Spanish. Since his mission he has been working on other languages as well. He worked for the State Dept while still in college.
Back in the 50's my father was pursued by the CIA because of his knowledge of Japanese gained after a three year mission in Japan. Dad didn't want to keep "secrets" from my Mom so he didn't join the CIA.
