Granted, Mr. Maurice does have views that a lot of conservatives don't agree with, that is no reason not to come to the meeting. Please attend. Perhaps we can try different places around Columbia until we find one that is acceptable to all, but right now ...

It was close to chaos... I thought we controlled the chaos fairly well.
I will most likely be bringing my daughter.

I can say with authority that you SC freepers throw one good party. I still have fond memories from the meet Linda Tripp shindig! :-}}

Maurice has a history of being too close to the edge for my comfort zone.A Christian man who staunchly defends the Constitution and states rights is "the edge?"
Can you please consider another meeting place
Not at this late date, unless someone else wants to jump in. We have tried other meeting places, short of renting a conference room at a hotel, and the meeting room at Maurice's is by far superior. That and the fact that he has great food was the reason we selected this site. So I hope you will come anyway, all differences aside. Offer up some suggestions as to what is the proper venue for an FR meeting.

Event not politically correct. Muslims will feel ill at ease at a Piggy Park.

Ck, I thought that you had disappeared off the map! How are you doing? I too, remember that event fondly, for two reasons - meeting all of the wonderful freepers who had just been merely names and meeting Linda Tripp, Larry Klayman and etc.
This will be a purely business meeting, but who says that we can't have fun doing it!!!!
I hope that the next event planned by the Chapter will be attended by my favorite shark! Hugs to you and your family.

Someone will surely have a camera. I hope!

Politically correct, bah, humbug...my middle name is INcorrect!!!
To: Bob J
Don't forget the pics! Only of the ensuing food fight...! The primary here pretty much divided up SC FReeperdom. We started throwing food on the SC Locale list but it only messed up our monitors. Hopefully after the meeting we'll all hold hands and sing camp songs. Group hug everyone! heheh
P.S. Can I get reimbursed for my monitor?
To: crystalk
Please excuse my previous remark, it was flippant and uncalled for, as I have no idea if we have anyone that is Muslim who wish to join us.
You are correct though.
To: crystalk
Event not politically correct. Muslims will feel ill at ease at a Piggy Park. Anyone is welcomed to bring their own cat, muskrat or other politically correct food. Preparation on site is not included in the gratutity.

Thank you for your nice reply. I should have realized that I have to be somewhere on the 20th so I cannot make this one but next time I will be there.

States rights and the constitution I agree with. At present in our state of war with terrorism I prefer not to get into the flag thing. That is what I was referring too.
A good meeting place with good food, sounds like fun to me.
Hope you have a great meeting and sorry I can't make this one, maybe the next.
To: The_Media_never_lie
I'm putting that one in the bank. I look forward to meeting you.

If the battle flag of our Confederate g-grandparents is a problem to some South Carolina Freepers - then perhaps we need to have this meeting somewhere other than South Carolina so that we'll maintain political correctness for both them and the NAACP. I'm sorry, but I'll keep my flag...thank-you.

If I read the reply by "Media" correctly, he is just stating that there are more important issues on the national and international scene that are effecting us and our children currently.
To: kjenerette; All
Our Constitution and Bill of Rights being paramount. Many have decided that the focus right now should be on the present although our history is important and should be remembered because if we don't remember the lessons of the past we will continually repeat them.
We cannot afford to be sidelined into things that have no bearing on the wellbeing of our Children and our Country, if we allow it - well, then we have lost.
Problems involving immigration, taxation, education and budget are some of the domestic issues that we need to be concerned with.
We are the inheritors of a great legacy in this country, but we are letting it slide through our fingers until there will be nothing for the next generation except hate and chaos.
On a side note, I also am proud of the South Carolina flag and what it stands for - the beginning of FREEDOM in this country. I am a Sandlapper and Charlestonian - born and bred to the legacy of the States History. But I am also an American Citizen who has seen her country attacked, I weep.

Now that said, I'm hungry for the second best bar-b-que in the South!
South Carolina Freepers, I am looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you. Those who can't come, I know will be with us in spirit and thought. We hope that you will be able to attend in the future and participate to the fullest.
Phew, I typed that in one breath too!!!

Whew...I feel much better now. Really Saturday should be about Freeping in South-By-God-Carolina and which BBQ sauce is the best with pork, chicken or beef...wait, do we have any Peta Freepers who might feel that Maurices is too close to their comfort zone! Yowee!Just kidding;) I understand that they have some excellent 1st Amendment reading at the store....should make for real good discussion since we like the Bill of Rights Day et al. (Does anyone have a sense of humor?)
Sorry - got to run...baby Wilson just started to walk today! Now real trouble begins. Must come from her namesake...Wilson Jenerette was born in 1845 and served with the 14th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. He was captured by the Federals in battle in Virginia and died in a prisoner of war camp in Frederick, Maryland on September 8, 1862. Other Wilson namesakes include US Congressman JOHN WILSON JENRETTE, JR.
see ya'll Saturday
