It will be interesting to see if he survives in prison as long as Jeffrey Dahmer did. I can live with a 20 year sentence.

Screw him.
What does the government expect to learn from this loser?
That the Muslims hate us?
This young jerkoff was no high-ranking decision-maker, and we ought to fry him.

Being totally against the death penalty no matter what (yes, even if my wife, mother, and my nine kids we raped & murdered in front of me) I have always said with one exception: treason. Hang him high in Washington DC's "Freedom Plaza" for all the world to see...sure would beat him reading "Best of Bin Laden" or the Koran for 20 years.....THIMMESCH

Aw, shucks! This sets the stage to give the savage Johnny Jihad (what is his muslim name anyway--that got lost in the legal shuffle) leniency--a few years in a minimum-security prison. He'll probably conduct islamic "evangelism" in prison--that's all we need! I doubt that he knows anything useful enough about the Taliban to make a plea bargain worthwhile, and I REALLY doubt that he has any remorse whatsoever for his traitorous actions!!!!
To: mondonico
Yes...you are correct...so it R-E-A-L-L-Y SUCKS!!!
To: EternalVigilance
Not shocking, James Brosnahan did a good job for his client. The mere fact that the prosecution agreed to this indicates that Lindh has been useful as an intelligence tool. It also indicates that maybe the case against Lindh was not a strong as they would have liked considering Constitutional matters involved or the risk of such decisions or the case would seriously compromise sources and methods. Anyway you look at it there is more to this plea than what is being reported.

..I REALLY doubt that he has any remorse whatsoever for his traitorous actions!!!! I think that is a safe assumption.

Anyway you look at it there is more to this plea than what is being reported. I'm sure you are correct.

He wasn't charged with treason.

He's agreed to plead guilty to the two counts, both of which carry 10-year sentences.
It's still unclear to me, however, whether he must serve the full sentences.
I would think he might still be eligible for parole. No, he doesn't deserve it...I'm just saying that the way things seem to work, I don't know how they could preclude the possibility of parole on 10-year sentences.

If al Qaeda told this kid anything, they are even stupider than they appear at first glance.I would seriously doubt that he has much to offer. I get the feeling he was seen more as a "useful idiot".

Being totally against the death penalty no matter what (yes, even if my wife, mother, and my nine kids we raped & murdered in front of me) I have always said with one exception: treason.I am having trouble grasping the logic of this statement.

According to Fed. Prosecutors during the news conference, there will be no reduction in the 20 years and Johnny has agreed to it.
To: B Knotts
So, basically, he'll be out on the college lecture circuit in 6-7 years. Nice.I believe that the Feds eliminated parole in 1987. I could be wrong, though.

We screwed up when we decided to try this in a civil court. How so? According to the story they got the guy to flip (not surprising, given that he is, by all accounts, an over-privileged flakeout case who suddenly found himself confronting some harsh consequences).

20 years does suck, but if he can give us some good intel then why not.
To: mystery-ak
Well, I hope so anyhow. He deserves no less than life in prison.
I'm still afraid the judge will reduce it. Naturally, if Hillary gets elected, she'll pardon him.

The SOB is a traitor and should be shot!!
To: Grampa Dave; AAABEST; Travis McGee
I say let him go free with the understanding that his address is published just like sex offenders and his neighbors are notified that a traitor is among them.........
And mandate that he live near military active duty stations , bases, posts and communities. Prescribe an ass kickin a day without aspirn per se.....
Just my ramblings and opinions on the matter of this seditious trash. Sad part of this is that his lawyers justification of his clients actions is a bigger threat to America than what Tali-ban Johnny could or did accomplish IMHO......
The Patty Hearst defense aka I was just carrying a gun and grenades I didn't use em works again evidently.....:o)
Stay Safe !
