LEESVILLE - After intercession from Shreveporters, a Vernon Parish committee has reversed itself and will allow the names of Confederates to appear on a memorial for the parish's war veterans.
The memorial park committee had initially refused to include the names of Confederate Civil War veterans to appear on the memorial.

McMichael actively assists in securing grave markers from the federal government for both Confederate and Union graves and several years ago was instrumental in getting a marker placed atop the grave of C.C. Antoine, a Union Army captain and later Shreveport businessman who was Louisiana's third black lieutenant governorI wonder if the NAACP helped honor Captain Antoine. They aren't mentioned in the article.
