The mere fact that your family and friends weren't contacted doesn't make a poll invalid. I have never been contacted in any of Zogby's polls, but that doesn't make me doubt their existence or accuracy.

I recognize that the population of Maine is not that big, but since the poll surveyed only 523 people it is highly plausible that neither you, your family, or your friends would be contacted. Call Amy Fried at the University of Maine and ask her about the methodology.
