An Alief teacher is suing Mayor Lee Brown for injuries she says she suffered in a fender bender last month, when the city-owned car Brown was driving collided with hers.
Patricia C. Fox filed suit Thursday, claiming unspecified injuries and damages from the Aug. 10 accident. Fox was driving westbound on Westheimer Road near the intersection of Potomac about 4:25 p.m. when Brown's Lincoln Town Car struck her car on the driver's side.
Brown said he was trying to turn left across three lanes of traffic when the collision occurred.
A Houston police investigation found Brown at fault in the accident, and he was later ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
Although the police report says there were no injuries in the accident, the lawsuit says both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Fox, whose attorney is Larry P. Boyd, says in her suit that she has "continuing physical impairment, medical expenses, physical pain, loss of earning capacity and mental anguish as a result of these injuries."
She is suing Brown for negligence in failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to control his speed and failing to yield the right of way.
Neither Boyd nor Fox could be reached for comment Thursday. A city spokesman said Thursday that Brown was en route to Paris and could not be reached for comment.
Brown has said he is considering taking defensive driving in lieu of paying a fine.

And it just makes sense that our lame duck mayor would be heading out of town/country at this time.
For those who don't recall, it took several days for him to be cited for failure to yield right of way as he made a turn (no protected turn). The mayor also claimed that he was driving around town for the sake of Houstonians, looking for illegally posted advertisement signs.

I hope she takes HIM and not the city to the cleaners! He is usually out of town. One of his nicknames is "OUTTA TOWN BROWN". I guess he was in town that day, too bad, he would have missed the accident if he had been out of town as usual.

Sounds like Outa Town Brown has already taken the city of Houston to the cleaners. He should be personally responsible if he was driving himself.

Having recently read the entire Boxcar Children series to my kids, I think I smell a mystery with 'ole Brown(ie).
What is he doing driving his own car? Many influential politicians will have chauffeurs drive them everywhere, be it two blocks or to a crack house.
Does he need personal insurance to drive a city car? Is he insured?
What do you mean looking for illegally posted signs? We pay him $200,000+ a year to look for signs? He could start by removing his own campaign signs, but that would strike too close to home. Houstonians, are there any "professional" women that work as freelacers in that area? I am trying to think of what might motivate him, and everything I can come up with, is nefarious.
Brown is en route to Paris. Didn't another famous politician from a few years back always seem to be outta' town when the heat was on? Where did Brown learn this trick?
Defensive driving, huh? IMO, I am surprised he even has a valid drivers license. I wonder at which Mexican restaurant/defensive driving course he will attend. Somehow I feel a need to join him at the course to make sure he actually stays the entire 8 hours. Forget if he can pass the test, no one would dare flunk him (or anyone). Will he even show up, or have a staffer sit in for him?
If only Grandfather Alden could look 'ole Brown(ie) in the eye, we would know the answers for sure!

I think if he can maintain that he was driving on "city bidness", Houstonians will have to pay.

Is anybody running against this clown?

Luckily we have term limits. Stick a fork in him, he's done if he cannot overturn the term limit statute.
He's had his people looking into it but so far there has been no public motion to overturn it.
Since Mayorbob (Bob Lanier) has been running polls to see who could be a viable candidate for the Democrats, assume that the king maker will again boost a puppet for him and his cronies. Since Outtatown Brown was Mayorbob's hand picked successor, Mr. Brown won't find the political support to stay past his time.
