Democrat Foolishness on Senate Floor (Byrd, Sarbanes, Boxer)
CSPAN2 ^

Posted on 10/09/2002 11:57:29 AM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

Paul Sarbanes and that demented Klansmen Bob Byrd are now on the floor yammering away about how cloture must not be invoked on debate.

Warner of Virginia came to the floor and pointed out there were 2 days of debate on the Gulf War resolution--and that was when we knew we were going to war. Warner pointed out debate on this resolution had started on October 3 or 4: thus Warner was showing how much more time was being spent on the current affair.

Paul Sarbanes then came up and pointed out "24 years ago, we spent six or eight weeks debating another important foreign policy matter, the Panama Canal Treaty. This is much more important."

As if.

Now Barbara Boxhead, Socialist from Kalifornia, says since the President hasn't "made a decision" to go to war (after a lengthy, ranting "answer" from Klansman Byrd), she just cannot understand why he wants a Resolution backing his power to go to battle if necessary.

Boxer, Sarbanes, and Byrd just don't get it, do they? Losers.

I am watching these fools in both the House & Senate and I am picturing Saddam sitting back laughing his a$$ off.

I am sickened by these performances. Shame!

Having watched the entire Strom debacle, Reid lying, Hatch having a conniption fit and the ensuing blah, blah, blahzo, I couldn't take it when Barbara Boxer stood up and started to speak. I just couldn't take it any longer. No human should be asked to bear such a burden. It was too much. I had to change the channel.

Oh no, now I see Jim "Big Hair" Kerry, Ted Kennedy's toady, on the floor. He's probably going to be next.

Bob Byrd says those who vote for war should visit some hospitals. What a loon.

Hey Bob! Visit some old black church graveyards--maybe you oughta check those out and think about your time as a Klansman!

SNIPER
DANGER!
Now whacky Byrd is talking about the Sniper in DC--and that the Senate isn't tackling that issue!!!!!!!!! What a freaking idiot!

I swear to God, if this guy were a Republican, the press would have him on every single night, pointing out what an embarrassment he is. But, since he's a big tax and spend pro-abortionist, he gets a pass to act like a fool on the floor of the Senate.

Yet, if he had already "made a decision", she would be complaining that he couldn't do so without a resolution.

It would be funny if Bush said "OK, I have made my decision. We are going. Give me my resolution." It would be another example of the idiot 'Rats getting what they ask for, and not liking it.

If the 'moderate' and 'undecided' watched this, Dems would be voted out of office in a heartbeat. You missed Boxer. She is sooooo arrogant and condescending.

I wish the Republicans would find ONE Senator willing to spend the time to learn the Senate rules as well as Byrd. We are constantly outmaneuvered on the rules.

I'm not sure C-Span was a good idea. I was happier when I was young and dumb and thought that honorable, intelligent senators had my best interest at heart and debated lofty questions with eloquence. Sadly, I am older now.

Will Rogers was right... If you like laws or hot dogs, don't watch either being made (paraphrase).

I loved you Will Rogers statement. Nichols was on this morning and pulled the rug out from under Teddie, K. Teddie was presenting an admendment that would have inflated the budget by 17 billion dollars, then tried to back track. Nichlos was so cool and just kept on pointing Teddies numbers. We need some serious changes in the senate, even if the numbers don't go our way, we need some new players. We will surely miss Gramm, Helms and even Thrumond. I only hope that Allard and Hutchinson of Arkansas don't go down.

Except that now, with the Senate rules demanding a cloture vote which the Grand Wizard knows he will loose, he is suddenly saying, "to hell with the rules." That's right, folks. If you didn't hear this today, it was absolutely amazing. Byrd outright admitted that there was no basis under the Senate rules for delaying the cloture vote, and that he fully and unreservedly supports all of the relevant rules in principle, but in this case the rules should simply be ignored by unanimous consent.

Byrd wants to delay consideration of the Iraq resolution until after the election (at least) but has neither the votes nor the parliamentary procedures to do so. Instead he is blatantly and shamlessly invoking the new Demoncrat principle of "let's change the rules in the middle of the game to get the result I want."

Is Sen. Byrd married? If not, someone should set him up with Marge Schott, that former baseball team owner.
