Dinner-table conversation concentrates on what sort of person the sniper is, while at petrol stations people pump fuel while literally on their knees as they try to present as low a profile as possible. In the suburbs people report shoppers walking down the street in a zig-zag, as recommended by police.

I was out shopping in Montgomery County this afternoon, and I didn't see anybody doing any of these things.

Me either.

Other than the gas stations playing the Macarena over the loud speakers it's quite normal. I personally prefer doing the funky chicken from my car to the store on the theory that even terrorist don't shoot nuts!

Actually the only change in behavior I have noticed in Maryland and DC is that people do look around at their surroundings more carefully and make walk slightly more briskly than before. Which I think is a reasonably smart thing to do. I have yet to see zigzagging and ducking anywhere. Could be some are, but I don't think it's wide spread.
