Los Angeles FReepers - No on Measure "R"

Hey Los Angeles FReepers!

Many of you will see the ballot Measure "R" on your November 5th ballot. It is VERY BAD news masked as a "for the children" schools bond.

It's really a massive property tax increase to pay for a secret deal for Los Angeles County to place a giant trash docking and shipping station on property that the college would obtain if Measure "R" is approved.

Dirty local politics at its worst.

Fortunately it has caught the attention of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and the National Tax Limitation Committee which are now on board with the effort to get the word out to voters.

Please be sure to send this link (to this Free Republic thread) to anyone in the Los Angeles area that you believe might be impacted by this ballot Measure.

I am also hopeful we can defeat the same-day voter registration measure which is just designed to make it easier for ineligible and non-citizen voters to cast ballots that will presumably go more heavily for Democrats.

I automatically vote no on any bond issue. It doesn't matter to me in the slightest what the measure's supporters claim the thing is supposed to pay for. (It's always a ruse anyway. The politicos divert the existing budget to other projects once the bond money comes in.)

I might be persuaded to support some of these things if two things were true: 1) It would have to charge renters just as much as property owners. All of these bond issues hit homeowners and let the renters skate. 2) I'd have to be really drunk to believe that it's not the budgetary shell game!

BONDS = TAXES

VOTE NO TO ALL BONDS! (unless of course they're worded tricky, where no means yes and yes means no.) Don't laugh, they've done that here in So Cal.
