Plates on sniper case car obtained on Sept. 11 in Camden

Two men wanted for questioning in the deadly sniper attacks were arrested early today in western Maryland in a car with New Jersey license plates obtained in Camden on the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The license plates were issued to John A. Muhammad, 42, with an address of 1400 Sheridan Street, a state Motor Vehicles Division agent said. A bomb scare of undetermined origin occurred just minutes later.

Edmond Bonnette, agent at the state Motor Vehicles office at 2600 Mount Ephraim Ave. in Camden, said the car was registered at 8:52 a.m. on Sept. 11.

Neighborhood residents said today they did not know Muhammad and had never seen him. They also said they did not remember seeing the car.

That's a change from the usual "He was such a nice quiet neighbor. I don't believe he could have done it" crap I'm used to hearing.

"At 9 a.m., we had a bomb scare," Bonnette said. "The police said it was called in from a phone booth on Kaighn Avenue. We had to evacuate everyone."
"We hadn't had a bomb scare in eight years," he said.
There was nothing unusual about the transaction itself, Bonnette said.

Nothing unusual, except that it happened precisely one year after the WTC attack and that it was accompanied by a bomb scare.

One of the former detectives on Fox News said that "profiling" is a bunch of crap and that it has never broken a case.

BTW, Fox News also reported that the NJ car was stopped by the cops in Baltimore County on Oct. 8 - and let go. The cop that did that is going to have some trouble sleeping, I would guess.
