It's but fifty years since China fell when Truman screwed Chiang and gave us Mao. Now Texas State Troopers guard their fascist dictator.
For mammon.

Jiang is smart enough to recognize that Islam is a far greater threat to Chinese sovereignty than anything else.

Jiang backs Bush on terrorism, nukes Yeah. Sure he does.
Why wouldnt he...on WalMart products alone his country's making hand over fist $$$...he wouldnt want a couple of N.Kor nukes to disrupt the cash flow...would he?
Plus...don't the Chinese and Koreans have a really nasty history?
To: RobFromGa
This makes me wonder if Korea has nukes at all; or if, at the request of China (in return for food and economic aid) Korea is faking, so China can come out against them, and Bush will be pressured to look favorably upon "peaceful reunification". Commieplot.

That would explain the strange manner in which N Korea informed the U.S. of the existence of the nukes....like the Koreans got a phone call from Jang.

AND, knowing the the news would paint the previous Democrat administration as incompetent--with an important election coming up, Jang could bet his gambit would be embraced by Bush...whether Bush was suspicious of the veracity of the claim, or not.
Then there's always China's vote in the SC as tantilizing bait.

It's a strange world indeed, when the red china supports us more than the red france.

China is just taking our side until Muslim extremists are deleted from the earth. Then they'll change their minds. They're commies. Except for the failing Democrat party, they have nothing in common with Americans.
To: BureaucratusMaximus
Yes they do have a nasty history and a nasty present. There's no love lost between the Chinese and the NK's.
If the Chinese wanted a nuclear N.Korea they could have given them the technolory or the actual weapons long ago.
Nukes in NK are at least as big a nightmare to the Chinese dictators as it is to us.
To: BureaucratusMaximus
Make that "technology".
To: RobFromGa
My take on his comments stray a bit from this article's title. I don't see Jiang backing Bush at all.
I see him wanting to stop South Korea from getting Nukes with this comment, ""It is critical to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction on the Korean peninsula," Jiang said.

...on WalMart products alone his country's making hand over fist $$$... Allow me to be perhaps not the first to point out that the takeover of Hong Kong by China will have more affect than even the Chinese yet realize.
Hong Kong will affect China much more than China will affect Hong Kong.
Capitalism works. Even China knows it.
