Nobody gave a thought as to the effect of Halloween until Jack Chick warned us against this evil holiday about 12 years ago. Chick also suggests that when kids come trick-or-treating on Halloween that we give them both candy and Chick Tracts. I think I will modify it and give the kids a choice: THey can have either candy OR Chick Tracts but not both. Hmmmm....I wonder which one they will choose?

Actually Chick has several Chick Tract comix on the subject of Halloween. Plus he has a new essay about the HORRORS of Halloween on his website.

Some of these can be creepy but many are downright hilarious. When I was in the Air Force we used trade these.

We do not acknowledge this worthless excuse for a celebration, even with an "alternative" evening event.

It's just another day.

More Christians need to just ignore it completely.

I've seen these Chick threads go to 1,000 posts.

Most see him for the whack job cultist he is, but you'll find a few inbred types taking up for him.

Whatever Halloween might have once meant, today all it means is kids getting candy and adults having an excuse to party. It is about as satanic as groundhog day.

Sometimes the best way to deal with malign influences is to neuter and tame them rather than confronting them head-on.

Maybe but I guarantee their kids are going to be mighty upset. One of the great joys of being a kid is going out on Halloween and trick-or-treating.

Oh? And just where do you think the groundhog gets his supernatural powers of precognition from? Could it be... Satan? < /Church Lady Voice >

BINGO!!! Actually nobody thought about Halloween as some sort of horrible Satanic holiday that must be shunned until about 12 years ago when Jack Chick latched on to this theme. That said, I still find it FUN to read the Chick Tract comix on this subject.

I haven't clicked on the links yet, but would I be far afield to guess that before the tract is over, this Satanic holiday is traced to the Babylonian Satanic Cult of Catholicism?

Even as a kid, I could appreciate that one man's religion was another man's good belly laugh, and what illustrates this more thoroughly than a Jack Chick tract? I would have taken the Chick tract, and still would.

I have the old version of "Big Daddy" on display in my office, the one where he says that atomic nuclei are held together by the power of the LORD. I'd like to get my hands on the Ken Hovind rewrite, where at least he pauses to denounce gluons as Satannic.

"Most see him for the whack job cultist he is, ..."

Out of a combined inate and sought after desired sense of good and evil, a large enough population of fanatics converged on what was perceived to be an assault on their 'rights' to live a good and moral life, and, after little actual provocation, attacked and killed many of those that were merely coming to discuss an agreement.

Not only did these fanatics kill many people, but even pursued after them to continue the carnage, hoping to 'preserve' what they believed was rightfuly theirs.

1776, Concord bridge.

I honestly can't understand what your post has to do with the discussion. I'm guessing you were trying to mark-up to another thread and somehow got mixed up.

?????????????????????????

I guess two weeks on the road has addled my wits ....

The point I was trying to make is, many here in FR castigate Christians and Christian themes when articles and/or thoughts are pointed in any specific direction, for example, Purgatory.

AAABEST considers (as many here today) Jack Chick a fanatic and a whack-job.

Two thirds of the colonists in America were either loyal to the king or didn't care and, I'm sure, a case could be made that the simple farmers whom came out of their fields that day in 1776 and commenced to blow away their/our own government troops (they were subjects to England), were considered by many ... perhaps a majority, to be 'whack jobs' desiring their own selfish ways in defiance of consensus.
