I believe it is time for Trent Lott to step aside as majority leader.

Any ideas on who to replace him? My first choice is Kay Bailey Hutchison. A solid conservative with a backbone, and.... would this make her the first woman Majority Leader?

Nothing unusual here. It is just a dry run of how he will look all laid out when the Republican party decides to have a "memorial" service for him.

How 'bout we offer the job to Zell Miller if he switches? He's got bigger cojones than most of his Republican colleagues and the humilliation of the 'Rats would be complete.

;^)

I was getting ready to sing the boot Lott chorus until he said he was in favor of putting troops on the border. Maybe the pussy cat is turning into a bold tiger.

In a serious vein, I loath the incompetence of Lott -- and have for a long time. IMO, Lott has grossly ill served us.

Accordingly, I am composing a letter to my Senator (Kyle) to urge him to consider an effective alternative to Lott -- and to lobby accordingly.

I suspect that e-mails are rather ineffective; but respectfully suggest that well crafted snail mail still packs some punch; especially if the Senator's Campaign $$ and votes are consider therein.

Just a thought.

Warmest regards to my fellow vets on this important weekend. DK/coro

I'm hoping Lott learned a lesson from his time as minority leader, his southern gentleman crap didn't fly with the dems, as they stabbed him in the back. He would be wise to remember 2 old sayings, "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, I should kill myself for being an idiot", the other saying, "keep your enemies in front of you, and make sure you can see both hands." That being said, I want a few things, right now.

Cut or get rid of the capital gains tax, cut or get rid of the Alternative minimum tax, establish the department of homeland security (god couldn't they just have called it domestic security), make the tax cuts permanent, get the Judicial Nominees through, put together a economic stimulus package, with more tax cuts, and double the deductions for losses, and making the present cuts permanent, begin work and start for tort reform, and to simplify the tax code. This list is not in order by the for any particular preferance, but I feel these are some of the more important things they should start on.
