The Detroit Red Wings visited President Bush today as he honored their 2002 Stanley Cup championship. This is the Red Wings third trip to the White House since 1997, the first since Bush has been President. The President made brief comments to the media after the UN approved the resolution for disarming Iraq. Bush also welcomed Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: See, it's one thing to be the champion on the ice, it's another thing to be a champion in living your lives. I think there's a huge responsibility that comes with being a champion, and there's a huge responsibility when people put the spotlight on you. You have a responsibility to set the right example and to use your position to help not only serve something greater than yourself, the team, but to serve a society and help heal the hurt and help people who need a little special care.
So not only has this great team proven themselves to be champs on the ice, you've proven yourself to be champs off the ice. And for that, we are really grateful. Welcome to the White House. (Applause.)
MR. BOWMAN: Mr. President, on behalf of the Detroit Red Wings family and the National Hockey League, it's my honor to thank you for this wonderful visit, and also to congratulate you on a wonderful week, and also to know that you've got the sanction this morning that you worked so hard for. I know you had to get 15 countries, and we had to win 16 games. And we know how hard that is. (Laughter.) And we want to congratulate you, and thank you very much.
These guys look like Poll Watchers in Florida!
Go Red Wings!
If you get a chance, go read the President's speech to the Red Wings. It's one of the best I've seen him give to a sports team.
President Bush welcome the Detroit Red Wings

You know, I will bet in the Bush library the rafters will be ringed with those jerseys he has received from sports teams! LOL! And hats!!

Oh Gosh...under 20.... I've been after the fact lately but have enjoyed catching up and enjoying your posts. So sorry for the Michigan State loss AND Granholm....YUCK... The bright side is she will only last one term....Michigan liberals are fickle. Thanks for all you do!

I kinda wondered where all that stuff would go. The library makes sense. He's certainly got a wardrobe full of those "#1" jerseys by now. He ought to wear one once in a while. I bet the teams--and their cities--would really get a kick out of that.

Dubya might want to add a trophy room next to the Library. Daschle and Gephardt will look good mounted on the wall next to theb other kills :-)
