TROY -- Cardinal Adam Maida, concerned with a published letter signed by priests defending Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Granholm's position on abortion, has "addressed the matter," archdiocesan officials said Tuesday.
One of the priests, the Rev. Kenneth R. Kaucheck, told his 10,000 parishioners at St. Anastasia in Troy that although his letter was edited and distorted, he would do penance this week for writing it.

I didn't notice this follow-up on the pro-abort, pro-Granholm priest til today. Bet this news didn't reach many Michigan Catholics either, though I suppose the ones who cared knew they should shun Granholm. I wonder if the Church will send a team to bless her inauguration. I suspect so.

Well, in the end it probably did Granholm more harm than good, because it energized the dispute and forced the Cardinal to address it publicly. Too bad it wasn't quite enough.

"...although his letter was edited and distorted..."Ah, the non-confessional confession. Either he wrote and signed it or he didn't.

My question is this (simple): If he truely has a relationship with Jesus Christ as a Catholic Priest, how could he ever condone abortion?
Answer: He either is fooling himself and accepting the wishes and law of man over that of God, or he really does not believe the Word in his heart.
Either way, I cannot for the life of me understand how someone could follow this man in a worship service to the same God of Psalm 139.

So what will this pea-brained penitent do to atone for what he's done to the people of Michigan by helping inflict Jennifer Granholm on them?

Probably sit in front of the tube, and catch up on the soaps. I remember a Priest (oh, he's been invited to the upcoming Bishop's Conference as an advisor on hispanic culture) telling his congregation that he couldn't wait for his vacation so he could watch all his favorite soaps all day.
