So much for the UN resolution, it's time to crack Saddam. He reneged on the diplomacy when he fired on our aircraft this afternoon. And now we find out he's pulling another stunt with his SAMs. Stand by Saddam, you're just in time for the Ramadan fireworks.
To: SwinneySwitch
sorry, typo there (although there could always be a first and they still have Scott), as well as another typo: should read "SA-3". I had the Brits on my mind. ;-)

0 + 0 He'll get twice as many tomorrow!!
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
Please don't get cocky. He could get one. You never know. It's damn dangerous out there for those Brit and Yank boys.

"Breaking"A lot of "Breaking" is exactly what U.S. and U.K. pilots will have to do to those SA-3 missile sites.
If Iraq wants to have a pissing contest with the big boys on the block, Saddam better get a bigger bladder.
This military has not even showed Saddam our big guns yet, much less pulled those pistols from out holsters.
To: Geist Krieger
quite agree. in fact it will be "Operation Breaking Wind" once the US/UK start taking more of those sites out!

That's exactly right, and that's why we need to hit this desert jackass right now. Things aren't getting any safer. Diplomacy is useless, the muslims regard it as a game where they get to rest and re-arm for their next sneak-attack. The Butcher of Baghdad needs to go down right now.

What are they using to modify these missiles, bubble gum and bailing wire? Sounds more like propaganda fed to the media idiots by the Iraqui ministry of defense.

The missile sites will be vaporized while their operators are still playing pinochle in the day-room. Clubs are trump!

The Chinese have been updating Iraq's SAM sites for years. Most of the news has been about their new fiber-optic communication systems.
To: zingzang
We can also thank Red China and their major telecom company which outfitted Iraq with fiber optics, which is the transmission system linking and supporting these various SA-3 and radar systems. Iraq has about 25 SA-3, but could have upgraded more or got a hold of more. The route could have been from Egypt to North Korea to Iraq or some other way.
To: LiberalsWorstNightmare
Okay, but is the Chinese technology superior to ours? If that may be the case, it still doesn't sound like they have sufficient nubmers to cause any major worries.

And that's just prep work....

I was in a Nike Anti-aircraft missile unit in the fifties and sixties.
They were two stage missiles. The reason they went to the the one stage patriot is because the two stage Nikes were obsolete.
Having two stage missiles will not help.
