One of the tragic legacies of social Darwinism, rooted in the presupposition of biological determinism, is that it assisted in giving justification--frequently couched in the language of "compassion"--to the elimination of lebensunwertes Leben, life that is unworthy of living, or, in the language of Darwinists, life that is simply unfit.

Indeed. It was the prime justification for the mass liquidations of ten of millions of human beings by "progressive" atheist governments in the 20th Century.

Social Darwinism has merely gone into a relatively quiescent phase. It still thrives in the ivory towers of America, as evidenced by this article.

It is also well-entrenched in the laws and social policies of the Netherlands.

Why should we be surprised by this? Is this not just a natural progression of social Darwinism?

As others on this thread have pointed out, the social Darwinists' definitions of "normal" are wholly inadequate. Often times people born with specific defects or infirmities compensate in completely unexpected ways that bring a full life to themselves and others around them. Are we, as mere humans, able to judge the future of these individuals before they are even born? I think not - that is God's place alone.

I have worked with Deaf-Blind individuals (Helen Keller). This is so frightening, I can't begin to tell you. I used to work as a professional interpreter for the deaf. God help us. I think President Bush should personally fire this creep.

Your sister is on the cutting edge of the Neo-Nazis in America. These elites run universities and have no moral character. I am sorry.

So these Bioethicists study the bioscriptures to understand the biowill of bioGod? Then they descend from the biomountain to biopreach to the biochildren of bioGod.

And dwarves.

Wasn't it the Wanderer that published a copy of their Little People questionaire on topics such as "do you wish you'd never been born"?

Now there's a rational human emotion on which to base your Proactive, compassionate, Good Death measures.

Where have I heard this before? Oh yeah, I read it. It was in a book called 'The Nazi Doctors' by Robert Jay Lifton. That book traced the evolution of philosophy among the medical establishment in Germany from the attitude of 'caring for the sick' to 'exterminating the defective and inferior'.
