As he establishes himself as a world leader, Bush also benefits from low expectations.

Can't help themselves, can they? The article is full of positives regarding Bush. Positives coming from some of the most powerful people in the world. But this writer has to interject opinion.

The whole world underestimates President Bush.

Except for us. We figured it out very, very early in the campaign.

"As he establishes himself as a world leader, Bush also benefits from low expectations."

YES.....I noted that also, but it seems they want to perpetuate it......which maybe a good thing for us. They continue to "misunderestimate" him......wait until 2004, I have a feeling MAYBE, just maybe then, they will figure it out.....but I'm not convinced, as I'm beginning to be convinced that Dems are dumb.

Thanks for the ping, Darlin'! McGavin, you are right, we had it figured out early on. Because of that, I have enjoyed seeing the press confounded, flummoxed, and confused. Cheap entertainment as a bonus!

Qualms about Bush's capacity for leadership eased after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. His management of the war on terrorism impressed his peers and made them eager to help. The Times of London noted last week that Bush "has certainly grown in the office he won by the skin of his teeth."

Grrrr! It ticks me off that they had to add that last little bit. The election was only this close because of voter fraud and because the election was pretty much called for Algore (because Florida was mistakenly given to Gore) before the polls even closed in California.

Thanks for the ping, Darlin!

Ya know, that used to tick me off, too. Big Time. But now, I feel it is a plus everytime they take a swipe at him because the people who need to know, the people who really care about this country and it's future know better. They read that stuff now and it reaffirms everything they always knew about George Bush but the press told them they had all wrong. President Bush has returned every slam, every hateful derogatory term they could sling at him with kindness. He stands heads and shoulders above his critics but remains humble yet confident and resolved. The people who make a difference "get him" .

You're right, the press can't seem to congratulate Bush without injecting their disdain. They treated Reagan the same way, but when he talked to crowds, they loved him... and the credibility of the press declines accordingly.

It's not just the US mainstream press that has egg on it's face, the world press increasingly looks foolish for ridiculing our president.
