Here's more proof of the phoniness of government statistics on so-called "hate crimes" (as opposed to that rash of "love crimes" sweeping the nation): In Chicago, where it's a "hate crime" if a heterosexual kills a homosexual, the reverse is deemed unacceptable.
Chicago police say Nicholas Gutierrez, 19, fatally stabbed and strangled 51-year-old Mary Stachowicz, a devout Catholic who urged him to stop being a practicing homosexual. Yet prosecutors claim there is no evidence to charge him with a "hate crime."
Gutierrez "said he has issues with his mother, and the way Mrs. Stachowicz talked to him gave him flashbacks to his mother," Police Cmdr. Lee Epplen told the Chicago Tribune.
"The entire argument did relate to his sexuality and her telling him that homosexuality was immoral," Jerry Lawrence, a spokesman for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, told CNSNews.com. However, he said, "The evidence so far does not seem to warrant anything along lines" of a "hate crime."
"If a gay man had been murdered for trying to convince someone to be gay, it would be a national news story and be deemed a hate crime," said Peter LaBarbera, a policy analyst with the Culture and Family Institute of Concerned Women for America, a conservative think tank in Washington.
And if you wonder why this case hasn't received 1 percent of the nationwide media attention devoted to the murder of Matthew Shepard, call your local newspaper and TV "news" station and demand an answer.
