CAMBRIDGE - Like any committed parents, Lydia and Preston Gralla often fretted over the quality of the public schools their children attended. But they stuck by them, and nudged others to do the same. Lydia served on committees to pick principals; Preston helped train teachers on technology. Private schools? ''A distasteful option,'' Lydia Gralla said.

I may have to read this closer, but how can a drop in public school enrollment cause a budget shortfall?
I mean, unless the people are moving out, the tax base remains the same and the schools receive the same amount of tax dollars, just fewer students. But hey, doesn't this mean more dollar-per-student, and doesn't more money per student mean a better education (least-ways that's what I've always been told by the left-wingers. . .you know, money spent is a measure of a) caring, and b) quality education.)
Like I said, I may have to read this in more detail later, as the wife-unit is dragging me to a mall. . .yuck.
Cheers.

If they really wanted to fix the problems, they could. They don't want to. They just want the parents to shut up. If it weren't for all these busybody middle class parents, there wouldn't even be any problems.

It's time to take the first step towards vouchers. That is to make all public schools a school of choice. If the curriculum is what parents want for their kids, it will thrive. If it is just the same old liberal garbage, it will have no students and should die. Forcing kids to go to rotten schools is the only way "educators" keep their power.
