LOS ANGELES (AP) - Actor Mike Farrell and actress Anjelica Huston plan to unveil a letter signed by many celebrities urging President Bush to halt his war rhetoric toward Iraq.
The letter, to be released Tuesday, is signed by such entertainers as Kim Basinger, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Ethan Hawke, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Lange and Martin Sheen, according to event publicist Andrew Sousa.

Here we go again. More people to add to the boycott list.

I wish a bunch of celebrities would send me a free autograph. That sure is swell of them. Did Martin Sheen's pacifism prevent him from portraying captain willard in Apocalypse now? No? thats weird....war is okay when it pays the bills. George Clooney is anti iraq war except in Three Kings. The least these people could do is mask their hypocrisy.

Are these some of the same "celebs" who promised to leave the country if GW won the Presidency????
If not, oh well - they should join those who made the above promise and move away - far away. I hear Afghanistan is in need of actors..... I would imagine Saddam would also love to have these "celebrities" in Iraq. They could kiss his hind-end and be his puppets....
To: NormsRevenge
Well, after all - they ARE celebrities. Since they are famous, they must be wise and are therefore in a good position to know what's best for the rest of us.
Bush SHOULD stop the war rhetoric and immediately get down to the business of ridding the world of Saddam.

I have basically boycotted Hollywood for months now because I am disgusted by things such as this. The only movie I have gone to in the last 9 months was Star Wars AOTC, and I have rented none at the video store. Not all the reasons for this are political, as most movies are crap anyway and just seem to get worse all the time. These people are incapable of producing a movie that is worth watching and they expect me to accept their liberal drivel as well. Shut Up Hollywood, I have had enough, and I don't care. I am sure many feel the same way.

I agree with the beloved sell-ebrities...W should immediately "halt his war rhetoric" and start the attack. Less talk, more bombing! I am gratified to share the sentiments of the great American sell-ebrities.

according to event publicist Andrew Sousa. Huston and Farrell were to show the letter publicly at Le Deux Cafe in Hollywood. Details of its contents were not released Monday.
Whenever I have something of great importance to say, I get my best B List actor friends, call my publicist and release my tome at Le Deux Cafe.

Hrm.
These guys are paid millions of dollars to repeat what someone has told them to say, a la screenplays, etc. They aren't paid to think on their own, so why should we give credence to what they think? (grin)

To give credit where it is due, Ethan Hawke is also a "novelist." He rites really good, too. So much gooder than other novelists, his last book was a finalist for the British Literary Review's award for the worst-written sex scene. The guy sleeps with Uma Thurman, and he can't even write an interesting description of sex. That sounds like the type of highly-evolved brain we should have running our foreign policy.

"stop the war rhetoric"---
---welllllll, that's all it is and that's all it will ever
be....and that's the point. I said MONTHS ago that there would be no actual war with Iraq. There will be a virtually endless stand-off, but no bombs and planes. And the Bush Administration never intended for there to be a war, with or without UN approval. The sad thing is that when there finally IS no war, now or in the forseeable future, the signers of this letter will think it was their influence that brought it about.

Well, they have the right to exercise their freedom of speech...and we have our right to roll on the floor laughing at them. Let the good times roll ;^D

The usual suspects.

I liked Windtalkers, even though Nicolas Cage did his usual Night of the Living Dead immitation.

When did We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson come out?
It was excellent.

You're forgetting the suppressed view of the most revered genius of Hollywood. Her opinion on the war has been suppressed. Maybe it would change the face of the contraversy if the media would release:
WHAT WOULD BRITTANY SPEARS DO?
Sure that's a hard hitting question, and the media has certainly been absent. They give massive air times to people that have not passed the mirror breath test, but for some reason fail to ask the people with their hearts on the pulse of America.
Free Brittany!
Free America!
