As long as we're talkng nukes, going first would be an excellent idea. For Saddam or N Kor or Iran it would be a bad idea, but for America, a good idea.

Going after France isn't sporting.

Every time someone takes France they end up giving it back. Must be something wrong with it.

If the Warsaw Pact had ever charged west, and the US decided to throw in the towel on Europe...

The resulting peace negotiations would've been interesting.

US Negotiator: "You captured France, it's yours."

Soviet Negotiator: "The peoples of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic and the member nations of the Warsaw Pact insist that France is within the United States' sphere of influence."

US Negotiator: "You ain't dumping that stuff on us. Keep France."

Soviet Negotiator: "The freedom-loving forces of World Socialism would view being forced to keep France as a hostile act."
