Yes, you read that right...
It also alleges that the district's failure to build a suicide barrier violated the girl's federal constitutional right not to be deprived of life without due process of law and the mother's constitutional right of familial association.
Don't mean to sound cold, but I'm getting a glimpse into why she may have jumped.

TAXI............TAXI........,
A ride to Tort Reform please!

Look out, the taxi company will be next to be hit with a lawsuit...
To: RIGHT IN SEATTLE
And then God will be sued about that gravity thing. The law of gravity, which is not part of our Constitution last time I checked, comes in conflict with the "federal constitutional right not to be deprived of life without due process of law."

Hold that cab! Can we share?

So help me, if Kalifornia pays a fat settlement to this mother because a bridge isn't suicide-proof, I'm calling the aliens to pick me up.

Golden Gate Bridge - No jump-ping! : )
To: CounterCounterCulture
Maybe the bridge district should sue the mother for driving her daughter insane.
To: CounterCounterCulture
The mom is still distraught after a year, but a big pile of money should make her feel all better.....
Whoops! Sorry Arkansas Freepers...meant to click on California for TOPICS.

Hi AP. Hadn't heard from you in a while. Glad to see you're still around.

She doesn't want money, she wants justice. Even if it costs 100 million dollars to build an anti-suicide barrier, if it saves JUST ONE life, it will be worth it! </sarcasm>

..."Even if it costs 100 million dollars"....
After they spend the $100mill, then she shoots herself with a .25auto. When her mother sues the gun maker, then she jumps in front of a cable car, when her mama sues the city, then she takes an overdose, when her mama sue's the drug co......ad nauseum.

Mental instability seems to have run in the family.....

With a mother llike that, no wonder the girl was distraught. I don't have many kind words for the idiot lawyer who took this case, etiher. What a maroon.

Don't look now - there's an ocean right under that bridge where a suicidal person could intentionally drown. Kalifornistan would be criminally negligent if it didn't close all beaches and put up anti-suicide fences along the entire state. And along all rivers. And all swimming pools.
To: CounterCounterCulture
The bridge did it... a cold hearted killer that has claimed hundreds of lives.

Where does a 14-year old get $150 for a tazi ride?

Maybe the daughter told her mother she needed the money to go to her local abortuary and she gladly forked over the dough. Just speculation, of course. And the irony would be if she supports choice in abortion but not suicide.
