Actually the video doesn't have the direct heckling, like I had hoped. The protestor and writer of the article gets a lot of camera time, though, and she clearly spells out Hanoi Jane's traitorous past. And good for her and good for the Israeli media! I don't think the average US media outlet gives as much fair time to conservative activists. Several months ago when the mainstream news was covering war protests and counter-protests, over and over again the newscasters would report the fact and end with a sound bite from the left wing.
Ironically, Jane Fonda was once pro-Israel (back when all good US liberals, like "palaeocoservatives," switched sides when it came to the Middle East). Back during the Israeli incursion into southern Lebanon in '82 she and then husband Tom Hayden (remember him?) actually toured the area and gave the Israelis moral support, saying that this incursion, unlike the US presence in Vietnam, was justified (and this was under a rightwing Israeli government, no less). But they were probably just following the line of the domestic Israeli left. Back then the Israeli left was still fairly "hawkish." As a matter of fact, it was during that Lebanon war that the Israeli left first manifested its current hippie-like peacenik philosophy. I suppose she just changed when they did.
Meanwhile Tom Hayden is currently supporting another cause dear to the hearts of many "palaeoconservatives," the Irish Republican Army.
