By PATRICK GIBLIN BEE STAFF WRITER The state crime lab in Ripon is analyzing evidence collected in the Laci Peterson disappearance, and the evidence could be blood, saliva or semen.

The Justice Department's Central Valley Regional Laboratory includes a serology lab that specifically looks at organic materials -- usually blood, saliva or semen -- and extracts DNA from the evidence to match with victims and suspects, said Katy Ciula, assistant lab director.

Far fetched....But, what if someone wanted that 8 months baby. can't imagine it; but these days and times and on the left coast...who knows.

Maybe there were things in the house that alerted Scott to foul play.

Maybe there were things in the house that alerted the police to foul play by Scott.

I posted this on another Laci thread & rec'd no replies or comments. Anyone have any info here?:

I wonder if the investigators have looked deeply into the husband's outgoing phone calls that day... One would think that a first-time expectant father sitting quietly by himself miles away on a boat, would at some point out on the water, the day before Christmas, probably phone home to check on his wife. A loving husband, I'd assume, would at least call his wife perhaps only to tell her how the fish were biting/not biting, etc.?

I wonder, too, how often the dh made these solitary fishing trips.

BTW...anyone know how long they were married?

Did he catch any fish?

Is there a receipt for the bait?

There was an outgoing call on his cell phone to home (made whilst on the journey back to his house). There were no calls to his wife whilst he was out on the water "fishing".

According to family he frequently made sporting trips. As far as "solitary" I do not know.

They were married 5 years.

I don't think he caught any fish.

There was one reciept that he had for this day, I am not certain as to what the reciept was for.

Maybe not. Not in this day and time. This was exactly the same thing that my mother brought up when this was first reported.

In this day and age with so many women wanting to have babies, it is not that far fetched anymore. Thankfully, hospitals are making it tougher for some scumbag to take a newborn. That dad should have been home with his wife. When I was 8 months pregnant, my husband worked 17 miles from home and called me frequently to make sure I was alright.

I've had several questions in my mind about this.

There is a very large reward out for her--it was offered almost immediately. I personally think that a $500,000 award is a very large one to be offered by "a friend." Who is this person and what is their relationship to Laci?

Everyone is convinced Scott is a really great man. The testimonials are certainly in his favor that he was not involved, including Laci herself--she never complained about him. But also the opposite could be true. B/c her family and friends adored him so much, if he had a dark side, who would believe her? Women about to have a baby develop very deep nurturing instincts. If she had any doubts about Scott and the baby's safety, could she stage this with the help of a friend to disappear, appearing to be dead, so that no one would ever come after them? She sounds as nice as her husband; women will go to great lengths to protect their children, so if this is a possibility, then he has to have a significant dark side to put her family through this.

His family says that for him to go fishing alone is not unusual. Good. No new patterns to suggest something fishy (pun intended). But the very fact that he would do that suggests to me that he is not the nicest or most considerate person in the world. Could that suggest a side only Laci saw? Maybe not. Lots of men would probably do this. But it's something to consider.

Did she have any late tests on the baby? Could there have been any health defects where maybe Scott felt he could not handle an other-than-healthy baby? So he either takes care of both of them b/c she refuses to have a late-term abortion or she "disappears" b/c of his attitude?

I'm not sure about any of this. Just some ideas to mull over.

If there was something in the house that might have alerted Scott to the possibility of foul play, why didn't he call police? Latest says it was his stepfather-in-law, Mr. Grantski, who actually called the police.

I accept the fact that it's possible someone wanted that baby. But anyone who was serious about it probably would have known it was risky to induce labor early, and certainly risky to try to "cut out" the baby.

This would leave them waiting till February for their prisoner, Laci, to go into labor. Who wants to have a hostage, an adult, around for over a month? You'd have to guard her constantly. I can't see a criminal doing something that way when it would be far easier to get someone about to deliver, or to steal a newborn.

Must've been something on that tarp; although, if it's been in the water....

That'd be my guess. It could mean that the husband killed her and carried her in the boat, wrapped in the tarp. She gets tossed off the bridge over the lake, and he tosses the tarp into to ocean.

Is this lake on the route to the fishing spot?

Perhaps a local oncologist named Robert Levy who knows the pain that this family is suffering?

You lost me there, Twigs. When my husband goes fishing (oftentimes alone) I'm usually thankful for the quiet time allowing me to read, freep, shop, or whatever. What do you see wrong with his going fishing when the baby's not due for another month yet?

Maybe there's nothing wrong. I'm really not sure. But I think it's odd the day before Christmas when his wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant. He also went 150 miles away when there was fishing available closer to home. But you're right. There might be nothing there. If she weren't so far along in her pregnancy, I wouldn't think anything about it. But she was and I think a lot of people would question it. That still doesn't mean he did it. I don't have a strong opinion one way or another.
