Just about time for President Bush' State of the Union Address. No doubt, Iraq and the econonmy will share center stage.

If I may, I'll make a prediction.

Unless this economy turns around, the Republican's will loose both the White House and the Senate in 2004.

It does not matter a bit whether a war with Iraq happens, or if it does, how quickly or how long it takes the US to win it.

The only thing that might affect this is to suffer another devastating terrorist attack within 8 months of the next general election. This is too horrible to even contemplate, so the prediction stands.

Either this economy does a turn-around, or Mr. Bush is a one term president...worse, we get a Dem in the Whitehouse.

"Nobody gets in to see the wizard; not no way, not nohow."

You seem to miss a rather critical point: virtually every economic analyst I've seen or read suggests that the single biggest factor "keeping the economy down" is the uncertainty surrounding a war with Iraq. In short, no Iraq, no recession.

This is even more understandable if you notice that OVERWHELMINGLY the profit reports from the "biggies" have been good or "better than expected," yet the markets have stayed down. It is all about security, and the war. The war IS the economy right now.

Polls show the public doesn't blame Bush for the economy. Before he was even elected he warned the people it was comming.
Actually, it will be on the upswing in early 2004 without the tax relief. Tax relief would speed it up a little.
I think the voters aren't swayed that easily. You take liberal spin too seriously. The majority of Americans lean conservative to begin with. This one issue won't cause a great loss.

No doubt, Iraq and the econonmy will share center stage.

No. He'll touch on Iraq, but the majority of his speach will be about various national issues.
He doesn't take his lead from the lefties. He sets his own agenda.

You may be right. Certainly history is on your side of the argument. But, you may also be wrong.

Forcasting the future based on past experiences is common (and usually the safe bet), however what has happened in the past is not always a gurantee it will happen again, and I firmly believe that the dynamics in this country's polictics has changed.

I can not support my argument on anything other than a feeling (and I know that puts me real close to the way the left decides things) but even if the economy is down, I believe President Bush has a very good shot at a second term.

Perhaps it is because I see a shift in this country from the left of center to right of center.

Perhaps many will remember what the Democrats gave us after voting out the first President Bush.

Perhaps it is that this President Bush has reviewed what happened to his Father and has made adjustments to how he presents his arguments.

Whatever it is, I believe this President will serve two terms.

I've seen this before. Rings a bell. Remember when all those "academics" predicted that Gore would win? And Bush would lose.

Oh, yea. This post rings another "he is a loser" bell. Several actually. Bells rung by Ann Richards, the Texas media, the Texas Democrats, the national media, the national democrats, Paul Begalla, James Carville, John McCain, Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, the FL. Supreme Court, many in Congress, all sorts of Eurotrash, European Media, the United Nations, the Taliban, etc, etc.

Nice bell ring. But based on past statistics? Your bell may turn out to be cracked.
