Thirty-Nine Palestinian Patients Transferred to Israel for Medical Treatment

Alongside the IDF's operations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip aimed to prevent terrorism, the IDF is continuing its policy of providing humanitarian aid to the innocent Palestinian population.

Below is a list of the restrictions that were lifted (as of 21 January 2003):

Humanitarian medical aid provided: Representatives of the Red Cross and "Doctors Without Borders" provided medical aid to the Palestinian population in the Muassi. In addition six trucks delivered medical supplies, food, and oxygen tanks to hospitals in the West Bank.

Eleven Palestinian patients from the Gaza Strip and 28 Palestinian patients from the West Bank were transferred to Israel and abroad for medical treatment. Furthermore, 164 Palestinian patients were transferred by ambulance for medical treatment in the West Bank.

Civil aid provided: Thirty-five relatives of Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip were granted visitation rights at the Israeli prisons of "Shikma" and "Shata".

In Tul Karem, a truck bearing food, donated by the Red Cross, was distributed to the Palestinian population in the village of Anbata. In the Gaza Strip, 14 containers bearing food, passed through the Karni border-crossing into the Gaza Strip.

In addition, trucks loaded with tar entered Hebron, in order to continue the roadwork in the sector, and ten trucks containing stones, passed from Hebron to Jordan through the Adam Bridge. Finally, in Bethlehem, a fuel truck replenished the gas supply in the city.
