I admitted that foul play was as equally likely as abandonment. From the article, the boy's mom wasn't exactly the most stable parent in the world.

My immediate response to this situation was "String him up."

A coworker pointed out to me that the best course of action was to wait it out until the facts come out. I don't want to appear sympathetic to someone that abandoned a child, but it was infinitely better than other cases in which the children have been murdered.

I certainly don't disagree with you on the boy having been through hell.
