POWELL’S PIX WILL BULLDOZE IRAQI DENIALS
By NILES LATHEM

January 31, 2003 -- WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Colin Powell next week will show the U.N. Security Council dramatic photographs of Iraqi agents carrying truckloads of documents and bulldozing suspected chemical-weapons facilities hours before the arrival of U.N. weapons inspectors, it was revealed last night.

Powell also will unveil secret photos of tractor-trailers with abnormally large vents. The trucks are suspected to be Iraq’s mobile bio-weapons labs.

The photos will be part of a multimedia presentation to make the administration’s case for war, U.S. officials told The Post.

Powell will use slides and charts, as well as information from defectors and moles, to help him make the case that Saddam Hussein’s regime is pressuring scientists not to cooperate with inspectors.

The information also will demonstrate that Saddam is actively importing chemicals, metal tubes and other materials that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction, officials said.

CBS News last night reported that Powell may release intercepts that reveal Iraqi officials told workers at weapons plants to clean up before inspectors get there - and what to tell them.

Administration officials described the intelligence information to be unveiled in Powell’s presentation Wednesday as similar but more detailed than the allegations made by President Bush in his State of the Union Address.

Let's see if anybody in the media finally starts doing stories on the obvious blackmail/spying/leaking that's going on inside the weapons-inspection teams.

The only reason Iraq is able to clean up those sites shortly before they're inspected is that they know what the inspectors are planning. This article, along with a similar piece in USA Today recently, proves that the inspections are a sham and that war is inevitable. France, Germany and Nelson Mandela can all go to hell with Saddam. The United States will do what's right.

We better move quickly at this point before these prime bombing targets are relocated under orphanages.

I just hope Saddam isn't moving them to schools, hospitals, etc. in the mean time.

You mean they've stopped using RV's for their mobile labs?

Which is why they'll be on the front lines when the war starts. For all the criticism the French get at FR, they do know who to play the end game pretty well (comes from experience with their history of surrenders). They know Bush's timeline - they asked for proof, and now they're getting it. It's important to them that they play the role of eminence griese.

Has anyone here ever been to the ME (other than military)? If you have, you know that it still reflects the partitions imposed after WWI. Lebanon, Syria and Iraq were administered by France. French is still the second language, after Arabic, in those countries.

There's no way the French are going to be left out of the economic boom times created by an Allied occupation/creation of a new democratic government in Iraq.

I would like to thank the US military for developing the unmanned PREDATOR that has taken all these pictures over the years. I am proud that some of my tax money went to such a worthy program which also kept many soldiers out of harms way. I wish I could opt all my tax money to defense : )

Frankly defense is one of very few worthwhile endeavors in our federal govt.

Yes. A former U.N. inspector told Sean Hannity that prior to 1998, they were having problems with French inspectors tipping off the Iraqis.

Yea, but it won't convince the U.N. doves. It's similar deja vu to the Klintoon crimes. We could have shown video of Klintoon raping Juanita B. and his defenders and the NOW Gals would still defend him.

The point is, if Bush has the dope on Saddam, and I believe he does, then Let's Roll.

And the highest priority. Odd that this was the only area in the budget that Klintoon/Gore CUT.

GREAT! Now maybe the peace weenies will shut up and listen. (I won't bet the farm on that possibility, however, since their intelligence seems to be sub-normal.) Hopefully, at least, the UN will now wake up and take notice.

I believe Blix has already admitted that the inspectors knew they were being spied upon.

And ... evidently the inspectors tried to play the game and give a different location than what was the true inspection location for the day. Thus, the surprised looks on the faces where the inspectors showed up the next day.
