LOS ANGELES(AP) - A wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the family of an actor shot to death by a police officer during a Halloween costume party three years ago has been settled for an undisclosed amount, city officials said.
City officials would only announce Wednesday that the deal was a six-figure settlement. The settlement still needs City Council approval before it is paid out to the actor's family. The terms of the settlement will become public if the council approves it, said Eric Moses, spokesman for City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo.

Shot in the back by a cop. It used to be that if you shot someone in the back there was pretty much no way out of getting hanged. Funny thing is, if a cop points a gun at you and you shoot him out of fear for your life, you get the chair. Seems like a double standard to me. The servants appear to be the masters.

He wasn't "shot in the back." He was shot after he pointed a replica gun at a cop. I, and you, would have been in fear of our lives and shot him also.

Yet, the article states that he "was shot in the back at a Halloween party on Oct. 28, 2000..."
In any case, aiming a gun replica at a cop is a rather dim-witted thing to do.

He was at a costume parry surrounded by revelers in costume. How was he to know the guy in the police uniform was a "Real" cop?

The victim must have been aiming over his shoulder. Can't see how the cop could have shot him in the back otherwise.
