I am afraid he is long dead, tortured to death by Saddam, made an example for anyone else, who may try to do the same.

Was there not a report just a few weeks ago that the US suspected drone planes would be brought to the U.S. in parts and then reassembled here?

I am positive we heard about that scenario.

The media is most definitely not reporting and then repeating what the president or Colin Powell have been reporting for weeks now. How often do the media remind us that Iraqi scientists and their families are threatened with death if they cooperate with inspectors. Did ANY media report on Powell's revelation that Iraq was recently shopping for tubes in a European country? I and two other posters made note of it in his remarks on the live thread and I have seen no mention of it since.

When the UN isn't hiding details, they are calling the the U.S. liars about the evidence being presented.

"It's the smaller cities and towns that would be more vulnerable. "

I don't know about that. Most Americans in smaller cities and towns, would view a low-flying unmanned aircraft as fair game for anyone with a shotgun and some birdshot.

Apparently airports don't use radar anymore. They rely on repeaters carried in aircraft that send the plane's position when queried. The position is derived from GPS, and if the repeater is inactive the plane disappears from the screen. Please correct if this interpretation is incorrect.

I hope the guy is still alive

Not bloody likely. Nor his children.

I looked on the web, and apparently there was an update, that I and possibly many others missed: "UPDATED 2/7/03: The Iraqi in this story, now identified as Adnan Abdul Karim Enad, has gone missing. Mr. Endad's relatives in the United States have been unable to contact Enad and fear for his safety. They have asked Amnesty International for help." http://www.thespoonsexperience.com/archives/001091.php

When Blix was questioned specifically about this man, his response was quite telling. He said the gentleman should have found a more elegant way of approaching the UN. I'm convinced that Blix was handpicked to head the inspections by Iraq, Russia, and France.
