Iraqi troops used "ruses" to kill U.S. troops -U.S.

AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar, March 23 (Reuters) - The United States said on Sunday that Iraqi troops were using "ruses" to kill U.S. troops invading their country, on one occasion dressing as civilians to ambush them.

"There were several incidents reported today in which there were types of behaviour that I can only describe as ruses that were perpetrated by the enemy," Lt.Gen. John Abizaid told a news briefing at Central Command headquarters outside Qatar.

He said that in one incident an apparent surrender was followed by artillery fire.

"In another incident there were troops dressed in civilian clothes that appeared to welcome the forces and then ambush them," he said. "So there are a number of incidents occurring to the rear of the main combat forces."

The soldiers who were dressed as civilians have committed a war crime.

They signed their death warrants.

"...there were troops dressed in civilian clothes that appeared to welcome the forces and then ambush them"

We can solve that problem...shoot first! Accept surrenders later.

Perhaps they were civilians to begin with? Most guerrillas are. Just a thought..

They are trying to provoke us into doing something stupid, like shooting surrendering Iraqis. That would stop others from surrendering, and possibly create a backlash among the civilian population against the coalition forces.

I think there's some confusion in that respect, because that would conflict with earlier reports. Supposedly, the POWs shown previously drove into an unsecured part of Nasiriyah unintentionally, and tried to turn back when they realized what had happened. They were supposedly stopped & apprehended by Iraqi forces at that point. I don't know which report is correct if they're both talking about that group, but the two don't match.

Disturbing but NOT suprising events.

We are foolish at this late date to allow any more surrenders. Military members dressed as civillians... used to equal summary execution.

I can't even begin describe how clueless people sound when the attempt to apply to rules of the Geneva Convention to these disciples of Satan. These are not soldiers, they're demons.

If you've allowed yourself to be surprised by them since September 11th, shame on you. Pay attention harder next time.

It's a bad deal for the folks who really want to surrender, but that's too bad. They've had ample opportunity to drop their arms and run like hell. They've haven't, so they need to taken out with extreme prejeudice.

No quarter. Kill every one of these bastards.
