All you need is one cell to grow a line. Why should abortion be required to get it, even if it is desired to have it from a fetus? Why couldn't it be picked up out of the amniotic sac fluid, or as a by product of the new technique of fetal surgery?

Cells can also be taken from early stage embryos without harming the embryo. This is routinely done in preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
