Kirsten Gets Political
IMDB.com ^ | 4-2-2003

Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst is heading up a new group of young Hollywood stars who will meet to discuss political issues and try and encourage their peers to take world issues more seriously. The actress and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal will front the celebrity forum, which plans to highlight the need for youths to get involved in politics to help make change possible. Dunst admits the current war in Iraq prompted her to get more involved and bring likeminded actors and actresses together. She says, "It's not that we're not patriotic, it's just that we don't want war." Dunst feels she's the perfect person to front the celebrity forum - because she was so apathetic she didn't even vote in the last election. She adds, "I didn't even vote in 2000. I think it was just laziness. I wasn't raised in a family that was real political and I'm just now becoming aware of these issues. I just want to be more informed. This is so important and if we can get anyone to be more political, then that's a good thing."

One more to add to the "don't-question-my-patriotism" dung heap.

If she didn't vote she can shut her pie-hole.

Hollywood's thinking: I can hate my country but don't call me unpatriotic. However, you can be patriotic but I can call you a warmonger.

Maybe her first topic of discussion ought to be military history and it's role in liberating much of the world from tyranny!

"I don't know much about politics but I want to get involved." Yeah, that's a great idea. Not. Try actually researching the issues before you get involved, Ditz.

She says, "It's not that we're not patriotic, it's just that we don't want war."

-----------------------

I am in complete agreement with her. I don't like war. I don't like diabetes. I don's like bee stings. I don't like cancer. I don't like rain on the 4th of july.

Now what are the adult realities?

It's funny... she's been in a number of movies, but I've only seen three: Interview with a Vampire [thought she was great]; Jumanji [hadn't realized it was her], and Spiderman. Funny I've just never seen the other half-dozen or so films she's been in.

"It's not that we're not patriotic, it's just that we don't want war."

And...it's not that I'm anti-Hollywood, it's just that I don't like liberals. As mikey moore said when praising the french, a TRUE friend disagrees with you and criticizes you. In that case, I'm Hollywood's best friend because I have nothing but criticism for it!

Can't we create a new movie production epicenter where patriots can get a job? Why do we have to hear from these nincompoops?

Hi War, enjoyed your Nashville highlights on other thread, but thought I'd chime in on this one. Kristen is one sweet looking young honey and an excellent little actress.

I have watched her career since Interview With A Vampire and as the past four years have passed and she has blossomed- as much as I hate to admit it, she's young enough to be my granddaughter, but dangit- I'm still male. Least I won't be chanrged with Assault With A Dead Weapon yet. But all that mostly went away when I heard her on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" last year. Not only is she an airhead, she makes airheads look mature and smart.

She talks like she should be a cashier at a K-Mart that's closing next week. You know the kind, they have to look at the printout to know to give you back 13 cents change from a $20 bill on a $19.87 bill.

Oh well, that why they invented ear plugs!

Kristen needs to grow up in her head. The rest is okay. I hope she doesn't turn out to be this century's Hanio Jane as Baghdad Kristen. But if she does, she does...
