Sky News just said that in the field there have been rumours that the II Marine Expeditionary (14,000- 42,000 strong) is coming from the Northwest to launch a killing blow on Baghdad after wire reports noted that the Baghdad Government may fall in days, not weeks.
The suprise force has been laying in wait for weeks in the deserts outside of Jordan.

Will it go through or bypass Tikrit?

Hmm, maybe this was in the original plan and is on schedule.
I'd sure like to read a Tom Clancey book about this war.

I've been wondering the whole time just who else was out there...

II MEF doesn't have embeds, and there's been absolutely no reporting on them since they left Camp Lejeune.
It's been driving me nuts. Where's II MEF? I keep asking my husband, rhetorically because we're not in the military, and have no connection to it, and he keeps telling me that if I had the need to know, they'd tell me.
But the above rumor is exactly what I was thinking they would do!

Last week I saw BG Rich NATONSKI of II MEF being interviewed on FOX, they never really said were he was. I went to college with him at UofL, he was 3 years ahead of me. They've had plenty of time to move over there. Too bad we just can't Fast Forward a couple of weeks. I hope there are "Partisans" looking for SH and his mistress and have a couple of spare meathooks!! Semper Fi!!

The anvil is in place, awaiting the blow of the hammer.
To: EternalVigilance
Seems the enemy perished when the anvil landed on it. Let's hammer Syria instead.

Looks like the 4th ID better get a move on if they want to be in on the action.

That makes sense. Secure the NW of Baghdad, then swing up with 4ID and take out Tikrit and Mosul. But this is still, one scarey QUAGMIRE.

Is that why we took the H2 & H3 airfields the first day of the war?

We better finish the job at hand before we turn our thoughts elsewhere.
But if we are serious about going after terrorists, and those who harbor them, you are correct, Syria cannot be ignored.
The Iraq operation has utterly isolated the Syrians, though. They just lost their best sponsor, Saddam Hussein, and are now geographically cut off from their other sponsors, the mullahs of Iran.

"Let's hammer Syria instead."Why do you think we need the 4th ID? The 4th ID has 4X the firepower of the 3rd ID.
If the 3rd ID, 1 Marine Division and Spec Ops can conquer, just imagine what can be done with the addition of the 4th ID plus a huge airbase at Baghdad.

Whooo Hooo. I'm not an idiot after all!!
Now I can say it: "I told you so" (not you, Bert!)
Go here---"Endgame: My Perception of the Plan", except the plan worked so well, we may not need these guys!

There's also the II MEF which has yet to weigh in. And just imagine when we start using Iraqi bases for close air support - no more range/fuel problems to limit overhead time.
This is a singularly poor time on the planet Earth to be a raghead with a rank.

Well, we knew that someone had taken the scud sandbox as no scuds were launched at Israel, and buses coming from Syria were stopped and the young men aboard were arrested. Marine II, eh?
It was the East that my husband kept wondering about. Maybe there was someone there to pick off anyone infiltrating from Iran?
