I do wonder, though, whether these calls for economic retaliation undercut the very freedoms we hold most dear.

Where were these people when gay groups were pushing a boycott of advertisers and trying to force Dr. Laura off the air?

You just don't get it? That's called "direct action" in doublespeak. Only lefties can engage in direct action. Direct action is always good.

Or you can use other spin phrases: "This is an educational site. We feel the public has the right to know what's going on."

Just more evidence of the Left's legendary hypocrisy. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. They are like a little kid in a sandbox who steals your toy and thinks it's perfectly proper to do so, but when you take it back, he screams bloody murder. Too bad, libs. If you think boycotting anti-American idiots isn't fair, why don't you call for a waaaaaaaambulance?

Let's take this movement back to it's very beginnings. I remember Anita Bryant getting slammed pretty good way back when, which probably chilled the free speech of many other showbiz folks of a similar mind. You just don't hear that kind of talk out of Hollywood anymore, but I'd be willing to bet there are folks in those parts who would like to speak their mind in that regard.

It goes both ways and shifts from time to time. I think we might be witnessing that now.

But, hey. There are political attitudes that it's unhealthy to express in my business too (a business that sells big iron machines that assist in resource extraction, and probably had three people in the whole country who voted for Gore). I don't share those particular beliefs myself, but I sorta feel for the ones that do.

Leftists are nothing if not stinking hypocrites. They argued naturally that Dr. Laura was an icon of hate and homophobia. Meaning she, like millions of other Americans, didn't cotton to the idea of the homosexual agenda being forced down the throat of America. (Sorry, but it's difficult to use metaphors about "gay rights" without them being construed as sexual analogies.)
