Christian Students Punished for Countering Pro-Homosexual Observance

(AgapePress) - Christian students who openly opposed a pro-homosexual event at their Wisconsin public school met stiff resistance from school officials.
The Gay Straight Alliance Club at Evansville High School recently held a "Day of Silence" to protest alleged discrimination against homosexuals. The club was permitted to advertise the event through posters, literature, and on the school intercom. The school even provided them with a "safe room" to sit in if they felt they were being harassed during the day.
But a group of Christian students who countered the Day of Silence by praying and sharing Bible verses in the school commons during class were given unexcused absences, despite permission slips from their parents.
Justin Wallestad, one of those Christian students, says he is disappointed that an entire day at his school was dedicated to promoting the acceptance of homosexuality, but past events organized by Christian students have not been tolerated.
"In the past they were putting [a stop] to some of the stuff that we wanted to do, such as 'See You at the Pole' and stuff like that -- they wouldn't allow us to put up posters," Wallestad says. "But when people come in with a Day of Silence for homosexuality, they [permit use of] the intercom. It was really frustrating, so we wanted to do something about it."
Wallestad felt some of his classmates who participated in the Day of Silence were promoting immorality. "The majority of these people who did participate are my friends because I want to be friends with a variety of people," he says. "So I actually did lose quite a few friends because of this."
Wallestad and other students plan to organize a "Christian Purity Day" and promote the event through posters, literature, and over the school intercom.

Time for all moral people who give a crap about their kids to PULL THEM out of the government school cesspool. Govt. schools do not have a shred of decency left in them - they are thoroughly soaked in moral relativism as manifested in liberal fascistic ideas. If all parents who care about the education of their children pulled their kids out of the scum-sucking govt. schools, the govt. would be POWERLESS to do anything about it but SURRENDER. They certainly can't put 40 million people in jail!! It would change the country overnight!

If all parents who care about the education of their children pulled their kids out of the scum-sucking govt. schools, ...This would requrie the parents educate their children independenat of government assistance. Private school or home school. That would put an incredibly difficult financial burden on the parents. Why, they might have to give up extended vacations, new cars every year or two, vacation cabins, that boat in the backyard, lavish retirement accounts, bigger houses, all their hedonistic persuits ... all those things that make living worth while in modern America. That's downright unAmerican, you know, maybe even anti American.

umm ... exactly what event is "See You At The Pole"??
To: Temple Drake
"See you at the Pole" is an annual student-prayer service at the school flagpole. It can out of Texas.
This article surprised me as my aunt, uncle and cousins live in this small town. Many years ago, my aunt (a fairly conservative and religious woman) used to be on the school board. I guess that eighteen miles between Evansville and Madison gets culturally closer every year.

oh ... thanks for shedding some light. In this context, it sounded unsavory, as you might imagine.

Great idea! Christianity is under attack on a daily basis by groups who are intolerant in and of themselves. While groups display aberrant behaviour, they're not condemned as being bigoted and intolerant. Someone brings out a Bible or cross, and members of these aberrations are screaming loud and getting the media coverage. The best defense is a good offense, and these aberrations are displaying the philosophy to the fullest. A backlash is set to explode.

Scott Lively has a great website and has started clubs among high school and college student to get the word out about homosexuality. It's
http://www.abidingtruth.com/ He has tons of info on the web, newsletters and great information.
This whole school indoctrination/training camp for fags is because WE have not stood up for the truth. It's great that kids like this are doing so.
Just about everyone I know homeschools or charter schools their kids. Public schools are now officially slaughterhouses and whorehouses.
