Revoke the Oscar - Moore's Bowling for Columbine NOT a Documentary

Bowling for Columbine violated the Academy's own rules. These limit the documentary competition to nonfiction films. Bowling isn't nonfiction. Whenever it was necessary to his theme, Moore invented facts, fabricated events, staged scenes, or doctored the depiction of what actually happened.

Hooray! I've been urging people to do this ever since that thing was nominated for an Oscar. It is no more deserving of the prize in that category than Milli Vanilli was of a Grammy, and they had to return the Grammy and pay back defrauded record buyers.

I think Michael Moore not only should return the Oscar, he should have to refund moviegoers' money. Nothing would hurt that good anti-capitalist (who lives on the Upper West Side, sends his child to a tony private school and pressures his own staff not to join a union) more than forcing him to give back money.

Who cares. I haven't watched the Oscars in six or seven years. Leftists patting themselves on the back? Screw 'em.

Who cares, you ask? Moore's crap book, STUPID WHITE MEN, is a best seller. People are actually reading his nonsense. BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE is being widely distributed. Now, Moore is working on a major hit piece on Bush that will be ready just before the next election. This SOB has to be widely discredited, not just among us.

I care because I have friends who have fallen for Moore's tripe hook, line and sinker. The Oscar only adds to Moore's credibility in their eyes.

If you don't care to visit the site or use any of the resources it provides, that's your choice. But give the rest of us a break--many people I know have been waiting for an outlet which offers a decent argument such as this. :) The Academy's own rules have been broken, so why not bring it to attention? At least we can enjoy the ride!

Precisely. James Wood said it best - Moore is a "chickensh*t tub of guts"

You know what the name of Michael 'Leni' Moore's newest "documentary" is?

Triumph Of The Swill

Hm...

Well, it can't hurt to overwhelm the Academy with formal complaints, can it? They won't be able to ignore thousands of faxes and letters on this subject for very long. :)

Mancow mentioned this on FNC's "Fox & Friends" this morning. I went right to the site, got the info and faxed a letter to AMPAS by email. I thought it was a petition, but this is just as effective.

bttt! REVOKE THAT OSCAR!

The Mrs Half :)

"i already complained to the academy and they assured me they would write a letter to moore and ask him to return his oscar and rescind his speech..."

They did? By mail or phone? I'd love to hear their response if you have it handy. I didn't get one for my faxed complaint. Moore was a problem before the Oscars, I remember he was on Oprah. I watched to see what the fuss was about. She was hailing his film as "brave" and "staggering", I believe. It was hideous.

And this morning Mancow mentioned it yet again on Fox 'n Friends. He is also getting the word out. Let's hope they can shame him into returning the statue, before he gets his next "film" out, and this is all forgotten.

Does anyone know who is behind the website, who is responsible for it?

And is there anything new on the situation (revoking the oscar) That would be quite a coup.
