What I don't understand, as an American, is why you would want to?

Because we hate the fact that they hate America, and use every fiber of their being to disrespect our President, whoi has shouldered enough burden alreay for TEN PRESIDENTS. And because our FREE SPEECH says we can tell them what we think of their pampered asinine views.

Now do you understand?

Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon had years and years in which to oppose the tyranny of Saddam Hussein. They could have appeared at functions, signed petitions, led boycotts. But no, only when the tyranny of Saddam Hussein was threatened with destruction did they suddenly discover their love of 'peace.'

What about the wars that Saddam initiated that killed millions, what about the repression that killed tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands, what about his sponsoring of terrorism? That did not matter to Mr. Robbins and Ms. Sarandon.

The Hollyweirdos oppose violence only when it is used against the violent. When violence is used against the innocent, they just love it. Hence their support for death row inmates, abortionists, and mass-murdering Communist and Islamo-fascist tyrants. The pattern is too obvious to ignore any longer.

Why do you assume that one wants to punish Robbins if one chooses not to see his movie. Actually, I find it comforting not to view his movie. It's an act, or non-act, of self redemption (no intent to reference another of his movies). It's the same human impulse I feel and enjoy when I don't listen to, say, Bill Clinton give a speech. I am not punishing him or denying him his economic livelihood. I am just catering myself. If a result of my not viewing a Robbins film impacts his livelihood, that is a consequence that occurs but is not, at least, my purpose. Now, a question. Why was the Hall of Fame proposing, in the first place, to show "Bull Durham". It's not a particularly uplifting film, such as "Field of Dreams" which involves a son finding a new relationship with his father. Speaking of sons, two observations about Robbins and "Bull Durham." (1) the movie has a fair amount of sexual explicitness and inuendo in it. Is that appropraite for the children who visit the Hall to see the movie. After all, it is rated "R". Second, Robbins has complained that he has a problem with the grandmother of his 13 year old (he is not married to the child's mother, so she is not his mother-in-law) for her "politicizing" her grandson. Yet, Robbins politicized the Oscars which children watch. And, would he be able contain his political views if he had appeared at the Hall, or would he have been unable to do so and, therefore, subjected the attending children to the very kind of politics he has castigated his son's grandmother for?

C'mon. Admit it. You want these people to suffer simply because they disagree with you.

You damn straight!! Finally you got a right answer!

... and wouldn't you love to be able to play a tape of the things they (the American left) said after the fire at Mt. Karmel, Waco, Texas that claimed 80 American (innocent until proven guilty) lives. How many of you remember the monstrous things said in defense of President Clinton and Janet Reno? I remember.

Where was the ACLU on that one?

"You mean sedition the crime?"

Well, now that you mention it, yes. The judicial system has the law so bolixed up anymore that sedition and treason are impossible to establish, but if you look into the original intent of the founders who defined the law, a lot of us are guilty of it. I might even have to begrudgingly include myself.

well well well!

Tim Robbins peace acvtivist will hunt a reporter down and (bleep)[kill?] / hurt him if he writes something Robbins does not like!!!!!

What kind of free press defender / peacenic is this? Tim Robbins does not believe he is being silenced or he would not have bothered to shave, shower and drive to the press club!

Nor would have said; "I can't tell you how moved I have been at the overwhelming support I have received from newspapers throughout the country in these past few days,"

He is much less concerned about being criticized or silenced for his political views than he is about being remembered for having come down on the wrong side of history.

He is trying to shift attention from his support of a dictator. A dictator so ruthless that he once arrested, tortured, killed and then left the dismembered remains of his political rival on the doorstep of her parents.

His rants complaining about the three week horrors of name calling he has endured ring hollow given his love for his self generated political limelight. example: Robbins called a Washington Post Reporter "sadistic creep who writes -- or, rather, scratches his column with his fingernails in dirt."

The Washington Post is far from being one of "Aussie gossip rags masquerading as newspapers, and by their fair and balanced electronic media cousins 19th Century Fox"

For 8 long years I lived with the label; mindless right wing extremist wacko.

So unthinking was I that no less than the White House called me inhuman and nothing more than part of a machine, a vast right wing machine.

Tim Robbins is not concerned about the loss of his first amendment rights but rather he is concerned with attempting to restrict mine.

He and his ilk have and continue to come down on the wrong side of history, they registered their support with the Stalin and Idi Amin side of history.

What about the Congo?

Results of 41/2 years of fighting are a 'shocking' catastrophe, says head of an aid group reporting fatalities. He also decries scant media coverage.
By Davan Maharaj
Times Staff Writer

April 9, 2003

NAIROBI, Kenya -- The battlefields in Congo's civil war are shrouded mainly by dense jungle, far from the glare of television crews like those that have swarmed into Iraq and Afghanistan.

But in the last 4 1/2 years, the Congolese war has claimed at least 3.3 million lives -- more fatalities than any conflict since World War II -- according to estimates released Tuesday by the International Rescue Committee, a private aid group based in New York.

"This is a humanitarian catastrophe of horrid and shocking proportions," said George Rupp, the IRC's president. "The worst mortality projections in the event of a lengthy war in Iraq, and the death toll from all the recent wars in the Balkans, don't even come close. Yet the crisis has received scant attention from international donors and the media."

The reason none cares about the largest human deat toll since WW2 is beacuse there is no oppurtunity to protest the US over this tragedy.

Why does not ANSWER, Susan Saddam Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Sean Penn et al care about these people???????

C'mon. Admit it. You want these people to suffer simply because they disagree with you. It's a natural human impulse, not to mention a Constitutionally protected right. I just wonder if it isn't one of those impulses we would do better to suppress.

C'mon, miniaturegovernment. Admit it. You want these people to flourish because you agree with them. It's a natural human impulse.

You want those who disagree with you to self-supress themselves. This, too, is also another natural human impulse.

Yeah, Rush was talking about this today and he said that he couldn't figure out why Tim wasn't already in jail ... after all Tim claimed to be deprived of the ability to speak. And ... of course Rush went on to explain to everybody about Tim "speaking" at the Press Club and Tim "speaking" on the morning shows - why isn't anybody stopping Tim from speaking ...??

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Nothing We the People or the White House do can infringe on the First Amendment Q.E.D.

It's doubly funny to hear members of Congress complain about other people infringing on Free Speech. Congress is the only one regulated in that regard.

It stops being funny when you look at the biggest infringement - it WAS passed by Congress and it bans certain types of politcal speech. It's called McCain-Feingold - the so called Campaign Finance Reform.

The constitution allows us freedoms, but there is no freedom from accountability. On judgement Day, will Robbins be complaining to God that his atheistic views are constitutionally protected, and that he therefore should not be sent to Hell?

Good point.

Hey - this is the opportunity of a lifetime! Send them a letter - as an alum - and tell them, not only will I not attend a dinner to honor such an anti-American, I will no longer support this school or its organizations.

If you know any other alums who agree with you - get them to send in their comments too.

Some college in FL (I think) uninvited Sarandon because the alum wrote in and said they were withdrawing support. Time to speak up folks.

You have to love it when a Hollyweirdo begins LIVING the role of a character we love to hate and DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THAT HE'S DOING IT.

Damn, this dork is daft.
