Freedom of speech means freedom from government regulation, not freedom from private action. We're all free to tell someone, "You're full of ****!" and organize boycotts of their products/services.

The First Amendment just means the government has to stay out of it.

Hollyweird and the liberals only believe Free Speech applies to them; any and all CONSERVATIVE RESPONSE i.e., criticism/boycott, is deemed by the left as HATE SPEECH and/or a violation of Freedom of Speech.

Almost all of the "Hollywood elite" have a high school education and it shows. Their intellectual dishonesty and general lack of integrity in advancing their agenda (to put a leftist in the White House in 2004) is what leads them to their mindless attacks and allegations. Similar approaches were not so much the basis of "McCarthyism" as they now assert, but the Communists, to whom "truth" was and is whatever advances their cause. That's why Lenin is reputed to have referred to the likes of Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, and those of thier ilk, as "useful idiots."

He accused the White House and conservative media of a conspiracy to silence dissenting voices.

What dimwit doesn't understand is that it is average citizens outraged by them, average citizens who also have that right to free speech and economic decisions. Dimwit needs to realize that this isn't the "good old days" when only the left-wing side was heard.

There is going to be a movie on CBS starring Susan Sarandon either this Sunday night or next Sunday. How can we find out who the advertisers will be and boycott their products and write them and tell them the reason why. I'm so tired of these two-bit celebrities thinking we care what they think! They were looking in the mirror when government and history class were going on! It's got to hit their pocket book in order for them to shut up! I also wish that everyone would band together and NO ONE attend a movie at the theater. Maybe when they tally the weekend box office takes (and it won't take long to add up a few liberal dollars) they'll wake up and realize the American public DOES NOT want to hear their babble anymore.

The most incredible assertion by this anti-American scum is that there is a conspiracy to "silence" him and his ilk.

Quite the contrary.

If there is one group of people that refuses to shut up, and refuses to stop spewing the same crap they have been spewing for months now is it the anti-War brigade like Robbins, Sarandon and their fellow travelers.

THEY are the ones that refuse to shut up, refuse to admit the war was a success, and refuse to admit that Bush and Rummy were right.

And it is 100% American of me to vote with my wallet and boycott everything any of these punks decides to act in, be it movie, TV show, commercial or whatever.

We are all gonna boycott these jerks until it HURTS them big time. Then we are gonna boycott some more.

But, do you notice how they are all signing from the same hymnal now? There was one of those especially nasty, creepy Clintonistas on Hannity & Holmes last night and he made it clear to me that the America-haters have published their talking points memo. He claimed something like, "It is a sorru day when disagreement with the administration is met with censorship" or some such silly nonsense. He was smart enough to stay away from McCarthyism, as most of them are, because McCarthy had a wonderful approach it was just that Stalin's media in this country was able to spin it, something they couldn't do today.

All these leftie, America-hating goons are free to say what they want. Just like the rest of us, they may pay a price for their views. He, in an anoymous context, there is little price to pay. But, on a saopbox, useing one's celebrity, the price can be pretty high.

Sarandon and Robbins are getting a response they don’t appreciate one bit.

I bet Susie and Timmy miss the old days, when the public just listened like a bunch of unwitting dupes and had no way to talk back. Now that the public can talk back - talk radio, Internet, email, etc. -, it's just no fun anymore to be a full-time, washed up has-been celeb.

Sniff, sniff.

Talk back's a b!tch.

A few years ago Susan Sarondon was part of the campaign to get Dr. Laura's TV show off the air. Guess she and Tim never heard that what goes around comes around.

No, no, no, no, no. You don't understand.

Free speech means that Hollywood liberals are free to use their celebrity status to get national coverage for whatever stupid, far left-wing ideas they may have, and to do so free from any criticism or boycott of their products. In fact, even if you were not intending to buy a movie or CD produced by a liberal you are obligated to do so if they have the courage to speak out against President Bush, Republicans, or conservatives in general.

Of course, free speech has no application to hate mongering conservatives. Just ask Dr. Laura.

I wonder what Aussies thought of Robbins' snide attack on them (i.e., ownership of Fox)--he almost choke on his sneering. I'd hate to have been the person who had to clean the podium afterwards. And that "19th century" remark! Yikes! Trying to be the quip equivalent of Rush and falling so absurdly, humiliatingly flat.

I think we oughtta rejoice when these morons get such platforms--they prove to the world how void they are of anything resembling an intelligent argument.

Meanwhile, I'd rather hear a cat caught with its tail in a blow dryer.

Does Tim Robbins listen to Rush Limbaugh? If he doesn't, then by his own standards, he is infringing on Rush's right to free speech. Unless Mr. Robbins contributes money to the Catholic church, by his own standards, he is infringing on that church's rights of free religion. Just as Robbins has the right to not buy a subscription (boycot) to National Review Magazine, I have the right to not purchase (boycot) his product. The constitution allows us freedoms, but there is no freedom from accountability. On judgement Day, will Robbins be complaining to God that his atheistic views are constitutionally protected, and that he therefore should not be sent to Hell?

I'm all for these hollywood types having free speech, but they're going to have to learn how to accept the consequences for that free speech. But what angers me the most is they seem to think I don't have a right to have the same level of free speech they think they're entitled to. Whine like little babies when someone speaks out against what they've said.
