Capturing Abul Abbas this week in Iraq may be the easiest part in bringing to justice one of the best-known Middle East terrorists. Figuring out what to do with him is a mess, involving sticky domestic and international issues and political and legal problems.

I have a couple of questions. Why did this mans wife come out shortly after his arrest and say he was not tied to Saddam and who in their right mind could think he was under Saddams nose and he not know it and this whole affair certainly seems like a good prima facie case to treat them all as terrorist. They all are joined at the hips and the lying liberals keep screaming for proof.
Maybe we just should surrender to France and quit paying taxes!

A simple solution....

Leave him very lightly guarded and have CIA Ops "liberate him"... He is widely hailed for escaping again but, in reality, he is drained of any and all valuable information before disappearing for good!

Article I, section 8 of the Constitution of the United States gives Congress the power:
To punish piracy and felony on the high seas;

Is further authority required for the Achille Lauro incident? If so, I can't see how.

Supposed allies who release terrorists and murderers into the world after we've executed complex and dificult actions to capture them should not be trusted with them a second time. Apologies to Silvio Berlusconi.

Ultimately, the hijackers were held but Italian leadership allowed Mr. Abbas to escape to Yugoslavia.

Return to Italy?

To punish piracy and felony on the high seas;

I admit that I'm not an attorney, but this seems a pretty straightforward case of the above.

Also, the author of this piece didn't mention it, but I believe we did have a warrant out for Abu Abbas, but it was dropped by Janet Reno.

>>...Mr. Abbas's detention is raising questions about U.S. jurisdiction...<<

Jurisdiction??

He's a murderer. He's in Iraq. We own Iraq. Nuff said.

It's very simple really. "Mr. Abbas was shot today during an attempt by unknown parties to remove Mr. Abbas from US control"
