Marchers deliver message to NRA Orlando Sentinel
Sandra Mathers, Sentinel Staff Writer
April 27, 2003
They gathered quietly under a chilly, gray sky near a remote parking lot on International Drive, knowing they would never be known for parting the Red Sea -- not even on a movie set.
They were, after all, just a small group of moms and dads, friends and relatives eager to participate in the Million Mom March to the Orange County Convention Center on Saturday.
About 50 people organized by the Million Mom March organization marched to the convention site. They said they came to send a message to thousands of members attending the annual convention of the National Rifle Association: America's children have a right to a safe life that does not include death by firearms.

This article reads like a textbook example of "explanatory journalism", aka agitprop. The reality of the MMM's presence at the NRA convention is that, except for the media cronies which ate up their crap like candy, they were hardly visible. That is, until one of them took to standing right in the middle of the road in order to attract attention, and had to finally be ordered on to the sidewalk by police.
Useful idiots, one and all. These are the people who will still be in denial as they're walking up the ramps into the cattle cars. That goes for Ms. Mathers, "Sentinel Staff Writer", as well. Her email address is at smathers@orlandosentinel.com (phone number is 407-420-5507), if any of you wish to set her straight.

About 50 people organized by the Million Mom March organization marched to the convention site That's it? In a major city like Orlando with national advertisement and the NRA convention? Within driving distance of Palm Beach and Broward?
That's pathetic. We got 300-400 in Lansing a couple of years back.

(64,999,987 firearm owners killed no one yesterday. Somehow, it didn't make the news.)
To: Joe Brower
Among the speakers was former Orlando police Officer Eddie Diaz, who was partially paralyzedthree years ago when he was shot eight times by a motorist during a traffic stop. Diaz, who walks with a cane, told the group he is a gun owner and a soon-to-be father who supports the assault-weapon ban.
And just how would restricting certain types of semi-automatics from private ownership have had any impact on what happened to you, Eddie?

The total cost of treating firearm injuries in Florida last year was more than $64 million.Total

"Useful idiots, one and all."
That is why they call them the Million Moron March. Though, calling them morons is giving them too much credit.

America's children have a right to a safe life that does not include death by firearms
Why am I virtually certain that this article would have never been written if the organizations were different and the pull quote was "America's children have a right to a safe life that does not include death by abortion"? Something tells me Our Ms. Mathers would have rather been burned at the stake than write that one.

They originally obtained a permit for 20,000, then cut it to 10,000, cut it again......
Also, the Second Amendment Sister were there to welcome them! We got 27 SASters together in the lobby of the convention center and march up the sidewalk where we were stopped by either security or cops and told we could not peacefully assemble without government permission....well, in so many words. We immediately took our retreat, only after reciting the Second Amendment at the top of our voices.
The lovely young photographer from the NRA wandered over to the commie mommy site where she was flipped off and told "take that back to the NRA." What a nice bunch of wholesome folks.

I could gather more than 50 people at midnight on I-drive by telling tourist jokes. These people are pathetic.
To: Larry Lucido
The Orlando police office also told the commie mommies that he owned firearms and was proud of it, then pulled out his conceal carry permit and waved it about saying that he could also legally carry those guns. The crowd cheered. The person who related this to us said she thought for a moment she was at a pro-Second Amendment rally.

As quoted in the article, former police officer Eddie Diaz was "Shot by a motorist...". As usual the Sentinel leaves out the big picture.
Diaz and his partner, who was killed, stopped a car with four armed felons inside. After getting two of the four in the patrol car, the driver opened up on the two cops.
Being handicapped and Hispanic, the Dimwits considered him to be the perfect Democrat poster boy so the local party urged him to run. After getting him into the race against Ric Keller, Diaz was a non-factor, as for some unexplained reason the Dems failed to continue financing him. He slipped into obscurity and was trounced by Keller.
Oh yeah, Diaz also sued the Orlando Police Dept. If I remember correctly, it's because they wouldn't give him a raise while he was at home recuperating from his wounds. Diaz was already on medical disability and pension payments.

Another story reported 24 anti-gun kooks vs. 50.
When you claim "Millions" a protest with 50 is pretty sad.

This was so funny! It ended by the reporters covering the MMM's hearing us reciting the 2nd, and coming over to interview us--the SASTERS. I heard we got more local tv coverage that night then the mmm's did. What a hoot!

Bush had reminded NRA members of their pivotal role in his brother's presidential election, saying that 48 percent of voters said they had guns in their homes in 2000.

At the debate today when the Minnesota Senate passed the CCW Bill, one of the dems gave the credit to the NRA, Concealed Carry Reform Now and the Republican Party.
The more they hate the NRA, the stronger we get.
