Rather than complaining about being labeled unpatriotic, liberals should evince some intellectual curiousity as to why they are earning such criticism.

Exactly. When liberals engage in ouright anti-American acts like openly rooting for Saddam, the Iraqi Republican Guards, and his Fedeyeen, like we read about in Slate magazine last week. Liberals have earned the right to be labelled unpatriotic and it showed last election when the American people turned them out.
